I have a question in mind from many days.. are we alone in this universe or we have any neighbour new of far from our planet.. is there any astro scientist here who answer this question :confused::confused:
Given that we are still discovering new species and life on our own planet, I can't imagine that the universe is not full of an incredible plethora of life. Marc

How big was your sample? And who did you use as a control group? Your personal feeling that "most scientists are arrogant and full of themselves" probably says more about you than it does about scientists. I feel the same way about religionists, but that doesn't mean I can assume they're all members of the WBC!

Even religious types don't assume humans are the only intelligent life form that exists: they figure a creator exists who by definition can't be human. (Whether they see it like that or not is up to them) From a scientific point of view, it would be very egocentric to assume we were - if would make our little, tiny corner of the universe "special" and we have been trying to avoid assuming that for millennia. In fact, most of our most important discoveries about the universe stem precisely from refusing to believe we are in a "special place" and working out what that means about the rest of it.

No: highly unlikely. Will we ever find out if they exist/meet them? Not at present: we don't have the technology to reach another star in a single life time. Have they visited us here already? Again, unlikely but possible. The upshot of all this and the true answer to your question: we are all alone.

The chances of life evolving on any given planet are extremely small. So many factors need to within the right ranges; temperature, humidity, radiation levels, etc. However, it is is possible - we have at least one confirmed instance as proof. When you look at the low chances you may be put off but think of how common even a one in a billion chance is when you take into account several trillion occurrences. I had a consultant working for me who said a particular bug would only occur once in a million times and so wasn't important... until I pointed out that the particular code in question was executed several million times a week so the bug was almost guaranteed to occur several times a week! There is, under current theories, an infinite universe. Therefore there are an infinite number of potential galaxies containing millions of stars, some planets in orbit around said stars, some of those planets capable of sustaining life and some of those actually having life. Yeah! We have life - almost guaranteed (statistically)! Now think how long it took us to get to the Moon (despite what DD says). Not just the few days in travelling there, but the research and political maneuvering required to make the attempt in the first place. Then think of how long it took to get robots on Mars. Travelling from one place to another in space is slow and difficult (and very dangerous). Assuming we can develop some kind of space travel that lets us travel to distant stars, in could take years or decades to reach just the nearest ones, centuries to find one capable of sustaining life - and then more centuries to report back that "Hey, we found some funny slug-like things about the size of a house cat - and they speak some dialect of French!" ...or more likely, "Hey, we found some ancient fossils of some funny slug-like things that must have been here a few million years ago!". Not only are the chances of finding an actual civilisation, capable of interaction, still in existence, not immediately hostile to "aliens form outer space" (us), remote. They are infinitesimal. As are their chances of finding us during the period of time we exist as a civilisation (in the broadest sense) overlapping their period of existence. However, I still live in hope that one day, friendly aliens with amazing technology and a willingness to give spaceship rides will show up and say "Hi".

I've been interested in this subject since I was a young child and have read countless books on the matter, spoken to hundreds of people and, since the interweb, spent many hours trawling all of the UFO sites, good and bad; hoping to come up with something that would point me in the right direction. So far I haven't found anything that can't be explained in a rational, logical manner. There are, of course, some things that can't be explained. Yet. Doesn't mean I'm going to attribute a flying saucer or alien abduction to everything that can't be currently explained. In short, there is no evidence for you to provide even if you were inclined to back up your earlier statements. Are there aliens? Probably. Have they visited us? Who knows? Maybe. I certainly don't but you seem to be saying you do know. So, what do you know?
