Hardly. You've attacked people who were injecting a bit of humor into the thread because you were trying so hard to be serious. I truly don't care about the original topic, and am not projecting anything. Nice try though. I also have no need to "take [my] own advice" since my calm is quite good, but thanks for your concern.

You call it humor, I call it being an a**hole. Different strokes, I guess.

It's rude to argue with people in a language you don't understand.

Per that phrasing it is actually impossible. One could neither read nor post. So the question is one of degree and not an absolute. In terms of degree - then no it isn't "rude". And actually the whole topic seems a bit illogical. A 'logical' argument in one in which the participants agree to the terms and then, using an agreed upon process, attempt to reach a conclusion based on those terms. The "argue" part is part of the process normally and not part of the term agreement. And you, far as I can tell, either are suggesting they don't understand the terms, which means you should either give up or explain it to them, or you ignore the fact that they don't understand the terms and then get irritated because the process fails. But of course it fails because of the lack of term agreement. Thus it is illogical.

And do you respond angrily when they don't understand you? It's only convention that this site is English only, and I happen to think that it's best that we encourage and respect others. A little humility goes one hell of a long way.

I was brought up to respect my elders. I don't respect many people nowadays.

Sigh, you guys win. It's my fault, I should have learned broken English and avoided these problems. What am I supposed to say? You're taking my words out of context, and you're applying meaning that was never there. I can't even get people who speak English to understand me, and then you WONDER why I get frustrated with people who can barely speak it to begin with under the same\similar conditions?

Now, let me put this into perspective for you. (My perspective.) ---- Let's pretend to be a certain way towards a guy who DOESN'T know us at ALL. And when he believes that our personalities are indeed what we present them to be, we'll all laugh. Yeah, that's trolling 101, it was never funny, ever, it's always been stupid, and annoying. And frankly, seeing as I don't know you, I have to assume that however you present yourself to me, is indeed your REAL personality. This sort of trolling will never be funny to the person being trolled, EVER, because he believes you're an a**hole. (And, you've proven that assumption to quite correct, all of you, be ashamed.)

If we knew each other better, it might be okay, be we've really only just met. If you like that sort of thing, and think yourselves witty, go join Joe Rogans forums, they love that stuff, and have plenty of witty folks. (It's basically how they measure respect on that forum, who's the wittiest.) Frankly, I stopped going after making a few post. (No, I won my debates.) I just didn't like that atmosphere.

Yes. If you think you've won, you've fallen pray to a common problem with communities like this. (The ppl all tend to have similar view points, and humor, etc,.) So, of course you guys think yourselves victorious. I can tell you right now, your humor sucks, and your wit is nonexistent. --- Example: I got laughed off another forum. Basically, I suggested a feature for a project, and ppl called it stupid, impossible, said I didn't understand how code worked, etc,. (It turned into a BIG flame war.) About a year later, the feature had been implemented, and the supposed winners, don't show their faces anymore.

I guess you won't like the atmosphere here either. We can be quite serious and quite humorous at the same time. There's also a large contingent here who don't suffer fools. Quite frankly, I'm shocked that you haven't been voted out of existence based on your childish behavior in this post alone. The silliness of the Lounge denizens has been a fixture of the site for longer than you've been a member, so telling said denizens to shove off and take their banter elsewhere isn't going to make a difference. I, along with many others, come to this site for the combination of technical expertise and general goofiness of our fellow members. If that isn't the kind of community that you're looking for, you may want to keep looking (in order to keep yourself happier). If you're willing/eager to participate with the understanding that this is the kind of community you're part of, then be welcome.

Explain how I was being arrogant? I'm 100% serious, you've simply misunderstood something that I've said. (Perhaps it's more of this wonderful humor I keep hearing about on these forums. ?) In any case, I get the feeling you think I'm insulting foreigners, but, that's just not the case, my family is from England\Ireland, my roots, I mean, I was born in America, and I have friends of all races, and colors, sexual preferences, you name it. I'm the most accepting guy you'll ever meet. This topic, for THE MILLIONTH time, is about answering a very simple question: When a foreigner, SHOWS CLEAR SIGNS of not 'truly' understanding English during a debate\argument\conversation\etc, what should I do?

Right, and that's fine, sometimes. This is the problem, your childish nature, I love that stuff too, but, you REALLY need to know when, and how, and with whom it's okay. Btw, I've made a few lounge post, and had perfectly serious conversations with none of this nonsense, we even GOT TO KNOW EACH OTHER, and THEN, made a few jokes, etc,. (That's the lounge I thought I was posting in, not this 12 year old troll factory.) I might have been okay with a few jokes, had the topic actually gotten more serious responses, but, right off the bat, you were sh*ting on me, and my topic. (Frankly, it p*ssed me off, and I went into troll mode myself.) I think you guys are misjudging me, and I can't possibly misjudge you, because you've presented nothing but false faces, I don't even know the real you. (Who was trolling, who was serious, I don't know, I don't you ppl well enough to tell the difference.)

I wasn't aware of that. (I knew it was sort of a "general" chat.) Btw, I've had serious conversations in the lounge, it's true, look it up. (They should definitely add troll warnings to the description, it said, come, relax, talk about what's on your mind, no one mentioned this cluster f*ck. Is that all part of the show?) :P

Would you claim that my question was rude in any way? And please read your rant again. Would you agree with me that it could be interpreted as being aggressive?

And I call you a thin-skinned troll. I think you need to go back upstairs. Mommy is probably calling you to dinner.

No, I'm short tempered, and homicidal, there's a difference. It comes across a bit better in the real world. (Basically, picture Charles Manson on the other end of the computer, and you'll have a fairly accurate picture of me, seriously, I look just like Manson.) While I haven't actually had to kill anyone, because, they generally know better than to push me that far, I would without a doubt do so if I felt I was being disrespected, and they of course, refused to back off when warned. I don't bother making threats on the internet all that much, because, everyone goes, ah, scary internet man gonna beat me up, lol. But, truth be told, I'm telling the truth, and as in reality, I don't care who believes me, though, in reality, it's always a TON of fun MAKING believers out of people. :) (I enjoy fighting, what?) (See, now we're getting to know each other, isn't this fun?)

I gave them the same respect I give to everyone else. In fact, I'm giving them special treatment, because of the language barrier, and that's the crux of this matter, and part of the point of this discussion. In other words, I have no trouble, calling out anyone who speaks English, if I feel they need to be called out, on the other hand, I felt, extra consideration was needed in this special case, due to the fact that they don't really understand the language. I know plenty of people from around the world, who don't speak English that well, however, they've always treated me with respect, and I do the same. (One of my best friends on the NET is from Germany, and I have trouble understanding him all the time.) This is about people disrespecting me, with the extra consideration that they don't fully understand the language. Hope this clarifies my position.
