If Bill Clinton runs now, will he win?

the democrats on the other side is that "the proof is in the pudding." And they are correct. The recovery started during Bush's administration and the current recession started during Clinton's administration. :) Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

Hell no! On second thought...never underestimate the voting populace. After all, the District of Columbia re-elected Mayor Marion Barry. http://jobs.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/local/longterm/library/dc/barry/barry.htm[^]

LOL! Both sides need new arguments. I guess we will just need to wait until W is out of office get some new fodder. But I, being poor, have only my dreams. I have spread my dreams under your feet; Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams. - Yeats

That's nice, however AdamUK wasn't reading that book to learn about US politics.

Its people like you who reelected the idiot in the first place. He will go down in history right there with that other Democrat stalwart - Jimmy ( I can build a house ) Carter. Two completly different people - one who would lie to the Pope and the other who probably never told a lie in his life. Just that neither one could run a country - one relied on polls and the other on the Bible. He doesn't come across as unbiased... That is true. He did seem a like one of those people that sits on the fringe... I get more perspective from here at CP about what, er, more normal people think of the political situation here. Still, it's good to hear viewpoints from the edge of politics.. still, haven't read anything from the other republican fringe...yet anyroads. Presidents really don't have much free time to themselves. Even their vacations are usually filled with work. There are also a very limited number of camera ops. You have speeches, bill signings (for show), helicopter pad shots, and shots from Camp David or their normal residence. (FYI: you might be seeing shots from Camp David and thinking they are the ranch. He does like to go to his ranch a lot. But it isn't practical to go there on a regular basis. Camp David has long been a second residence for the president to get away from Washington for a weekend.) As far as office hours go, I doubt there is such a thing. As far as flaming goes, nah. Presidential vacations have long been a source for "see, he doesn't care about the country" type political fodder. It is mostly ignored these days. :) Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. Especially when its a 24 hour job. You can't fault the guy for wanting to take a "couple of days off" and spend them at his home. But you're right, even when he's there he is having foreign officials visit him and doing regular "guy" stuff. "Honey, the trees need trimming" :)

Unless you somehow think him guilty of some great sin that somehow has an effect on you (I'm not going to mention the 'R' word here because there could be other reasons) all he is guilty of is lying about an adulterous activity - like about 95% of the people so eager to bring him down at the time. I wonder how many times the prominent figures that called for his blood have seen the inside of a cheap motel room, or a classy hotel room, with your money, for example. To treat as a criminal investigation was to deny the presidential family their basic right to privacy. I never did understand what the whole point was, but then I never saw the point behind the more recent Diana's Butler 'scandal' (or Diana for that matter), the whole Peter Mandelson 'scandal', or that thing with Blair's wife and that Aussie con man -- sorry, that Aussie con man 'scandal'. Can I ask why? From an outsider point of view he seems to have done a lot more for the us that any other president of recent times.... especially on the economic side of things... Well.. ok.. mightn't have been him personally but during his "reign" the US made leads and bounds economically. Regards, Brian Dela :-)

I am one of those who beleives that most of the economic gains of the '90s were due more to Ronald Reagan and not Clinton. The economic reforms of Reagan, and his management of the end of the cold war, contributed to an economic/hightech boom that was poised to happen at that time. Many Americans (probably most) do not want to live in a socialist state. The problem is Bill didn't do anything during his presidency. The recovery started prior to his presidency and the current recession started during his presidency. The bulk of the economic growth started when the republicans took both houses back. But they really didn't do much either. It was more psychological than anything else. Then you had the huge internet boom than *snicker* Gore invented. Lots of things went right for Clinton. He did a lot of talking, but never really did anything. He would always talk about all these new great proposals and never do them. He helped to get Khato going but never really intended on passing it. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. Ok.. It could just be that Bill Clinton done an awful lot for Ireland that makes me think he done a lot for the US. Regards, Brian Dela :-)
