This is one of those cases where equality really does need to mean equality. If you'd ask the question of a male colleague, you should be able to ask it of a female colleague. It's not an offensive one - you are merely seeking clarification on functionality. I'd also have a word that shouting is not what you'd expect in a professional environment. The only thing I would say - have witnesses to the conversation.
I was brought up to respect my elders. I don't respect many people nowadays.

Ah, but our SVN started with who knows what, went to CVS, was converted from a monolithic project to one that was componentized. The senior guy that did the checkins for these steps is named as the "author", but vehemently denies being such for many of the files. In one case, the file went back so far, we have no idea who originally wrote it. Not that it matters, they're long gone. (Two companies ago, when I converted a CVS repository to something else, I made sure that unknown users were declared administrator precisely to avoid this.)
