First I have heard of this story[^]. A crazy golf course with holes featuring Hitler and Saddam is touring the country and upsetting people who spend their time looking for things to be upset about. Personally I think that a statue of Hitler who raises his arm in salute and shouts "Nein nein nein" when you get the ball through him is genius. Should ridiculing very bad men, making them a part of a children's game, be a bad thing? Or should these men not be used in such frivolous ways because they did such bad, bad things?

Bad in reference to leaders in history is mostly determined by their loss in a battle. Many of history's leaders were murderous bas__rds but since they kept winning over their murderous foes, they are considered glorious, while the other murderous bas__rds are considered murderous bas__rds. Personally I pretty much detest those murderous bas__rds you mentioned, even without the defeat they had taken.

It is a paradox that paradoxes would actually exist in reality. That means of course that they don't exist. However, they do!

Wouldn't be as funny with them either. For all he did Hitler has been a figure of fun and ridicule in this country for as long as I can remember, and I would imagine stretching right back to the second world war. Saddam too since the first gulf war. Perhaps it is the moustaches that makes it easier to mock. Interesting quote from the Kurdish fella in the story, pretty much said meh, can't see anything wrong with it. It is the Jewish organisations that are upset.

It depends where of course. Such a course, built in Iran for example will most likely be demolished by the authorities, followed by the execution of the owner for conspirecy with the western enemy.

By all accounts Genghis was a right bastard, and he was quite good at winning battles. He did do a lot of good for the environment though.

The interesting thing about Genghis was that he was religiously tolerant and had Muslim, Christian & Buddhist consultants.

Seems reasonable to me. Although, I think a quick hit with the Mashie Niblick would do the job just as well. You don't want your niblick mashied, especially if you get caught in the cleeks.

Neither Bush or Blair pulled people out of Congress/Parliament to shoot them in the head, so I'd say probably not. I'd make an exception for Ed Balls, however.

What is the alternative? Boost them as Bogeymen, out to get children? Wallow in their crimes against their fellow men? (The History Channel has that covered, pretty much) Or ignore them, and let them pass out of memory; save for the very few historians? (Who remembers Pol Pot these days, or Yakubu Gowon, or Mengistu Haile Mariam, or Leopold II of Belgium, or Vlad the Impaler, or...) Remember what historians say: "Those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat it".

Neither Bush or Blair pulled people out of Congress/Parliament to shoot them in the head, so I'd say probably not. I'd make an exception for Ed Balls, however.

What about David Kelly? At least Saddam had the balls to do his own dirty work.

Well, conspiracies aside that was suicide. And yes, a good man ended up dead and the previous Government did have blood on its hands, maybe. But I still don't think there is any comparison between elected democratic leaders and a tyrannical dictator with a penchant for killing his own people.

                                          Regards, Rob Philpott.
