Sorry, but no. The ANC won in the end, so he was a Freedom Fighter battling against an Oppressive and Brutal Regime. If they had lost, then he would have been a Terrorist trying to overthrow the Legitimate Government against the wishes of the People. (Just as the pro-apartheid government claimed when they were still in power.) But they didn't lose - the oppressive regime did. Thankfully.

Doesnt matter who won, he was stil a terrorist at a time when soneone else of true nobility fought sucessfully against apartheid without resorting to violence.

I am not speaking ill of the dead, merely pointing out the cras hypocrisy of the worlds leaders today. And anyone here who hero worships him. And if you think thats abusive then you are a fool.

Thank you, I'll wear that title with pride. It's abusive because you're merely making an issue out of it due to the emotional point that you don't like to ignore the fact that hero's and saint's do not exist by definition.

By that definition, George Washington and his cronies[^] were terrorists who should have been hanged for treason.

Come on Eric, you know as well as I do that people hate keeping things in perspective. The People have decided that Mandela is a Pretty Cool Guy - you can't just start disagreeing, especially not if you cite facts. Facts are stupid.

I find citing facts and citing Wikipedia are two completely different things. They may occasionally be the same but they don't have to. ;) I don't consider Wikipedia to be a proof for anything :)

Don't forget his ex-wife, Winnie. She apparently did her best to eradicate male virginity in SA while he was incarcerated doing porridge. When she did have intimate relations with him they were alluded to an iconic statue in Trafalgar Square like thus: Q. What slides up and down Nelson's Column? A. Winnie.

One man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter. If you'd like to call him a terrorist, he would have loved to wear that badge with pride along with the likes of Che and Castro.

I am on their side actually. It was just the Englich Civil War part 2, fighting against a king trying to impose unjust taxation. In fact many at the time were also on their side, many British Officiers refused to take part in any attempt to control the rebellion.

Of course aparthied was wrong, but it wasnt unique to SA, the US also had it, and it was also fought against, but passively. And thats the difference. King was a hero, Mandella a terrorist.
