For me, it would be £6502. Miss the simplicity of those days...

Just wrote out a cheque for £8088 Looked up wistfully and sighed. The whiskerless youth enquired what was up and I told him the value of the cheque and how I used to use 8088's and what a great little chip it was for the time. Unimpressed, he shrugged and said "Never 'eard of it". O Tempora O Mores

Regrettably, I would pocket very little for my Z80 based youth... :sigh:

Wonder what they would get: an iOU perhaps?

Haven't written a cheque in decades. No wonder he's never heard of it! ;P

You should have given them a check for p2, and told them to be grateful for the upgrade.

I had an 8088 machine too, but something else sticks in my mind. Many ... many years ago, our office was putting together a group purchase of 486 motherboards. I was waffling on spending the money. That Sunday, the opening hymn was on page 486. That made up my mind! I was on a mission from GOD!!! And besides $486 is cheaper unless you get pick and demand $80486 !!! Footnote: There was a reason the boards were cheap... flaky DMA made the floppy drive useless. After putting up with non-sense for years I gave the POS away with the provision that it never be sold... which it was  !!! The cows came home when the buyer complained to me about the board and I filled him in on the truth!!!

I was talking about the BBC production of 1984 (the 1954 version). It's available if you take a bit of a scout. Don't think that they ever made an 8084 chip, or even an ICL 1984. Could be wrong.
