Yeah. When they have a fingerprint reader on the card, which can be a little thicker since you only need to carry the one, and it only works when you are physically holding it, then I would think it was a good thing.

Well, yes there is that. But you can look at it the other way; Because people tend to keep their cards together when you lose your wallet you've got a lot of phone calls to make - this way only one. The hope would be also that through 'better' security/biometrics etc. it would be worth less in the hands of a thief.

Certainly that is what the people selling the solutions rely on. On the other hand when someone comes up with a system that cannot be compromised in some way by other humans then I would suspect that the creator wasn't human.

Belgium has the first vending machine that only sells crates of beer and sixpacks[^]. The legal drinking age is 16, but every Belgian has an electronic id card so the machine can check if you're permitted to use it's services.

I guess you have to be born to it, and there is much to recommend it, but I hate Flanders. Its so drab, in a depressing way. But yeah, they have loads of automats. coffee, bread, all sorts of stuff. Not surprised its beer. SHame it isn't Stella though, its nicer than Jupiler.

I guess you have to be born to it, and there is much to recommend it, but I hate Flanders. Its so drab, in a depressing way. But yeah, they have loads of automats. coffee, bread, all sorts of stuff. Not surprised its beer. SHame it isn't Stella though, its nicer than Jupiler.

Nice. :) So i sense in the comments that they don't use ID's in the US? Or do you guys see every different type of card as ID? In The Netherlands we have 2 ID's: The driving license and IDcard/passport. Then there are bankcards, shopcards etc but they are not qualified to use as official ID(they don't contain a picture. ) Also, about the fingerprints: In the Netherlands they have to scan your fingerprints before they can make a IDcard. I'm not sure, but i believe that the scans are saved in a database and in a chip on the idcard/passport

Yes, we do have cool things in our country, although we also don't have a closing time for pubs, so why would you go to a vending machine ;P
