Any recommendations for a web site that delivers quality news, not sensored (self-sensored or otherwise), verified, not politically biased (or at least presents multiple viewpoints), etc? I know, I'm probably asking for too much. Marc Help! I'm an AI running around in someone's f*cked up universe simulator.

For a left/liberal site, I recommend Salon.com[^] To get any real use out of it, you have to subscribe ($30 per year ad-free or $18.50 per year with ads). John Carson

NPR doesn't make partisan statements (in either direction, frankly). just think of someone who listens to Rush, Hannity and Savage for 6 hours a day, and then turns to a station that doesn't rant and froth about "liberals" and "america-haters". it might just seem that NPR is supporting the left by not constantly ranting against it. in any case, as i said, i feel NPR is essentially free of partisan bias; when they present one side of an argument, they nearly always present the other side. *edit* just to clarify, i'm talking about shows like All Things Considered, not Car Talk, the cooking shows or the game shows, which aren't exactly news, and are often produced by other companies, like PRI, Michigan Public Radio, etc.. */edit* -c

I tend to be pretty conservative, tend to vote Republican, but consider myself independent. Actually though I would agree with you about NPR, they do a good job covering the news, usually from all sides. There can be a liberal bias sometimes, but I think that the advantage with them is they cover the topics in greater depth than a lot of other sources who stick with "sound bites". I listen to NPR every now and thanks to WMP. Now even more often since it's war time. I just have one comment on the radio station; it's a pretty boring in how it's "presented". From a fairly objective (and perhaps an ignorant) perspective, I find it quite neutral. But then again, I'm a leftist/liberal european. ;) -- Shine, enlighten me - shine Shine, awaken me - shine Shine for all your suffering - shine

This segment is 45 minutes into the newscast where the panel discusses the current hot issue. The panel will usually include Mara, Jaun (both drive me around the bend), Mort Kondrake (honest middle of the road guy, publishes Roll Call), Bill Kristol or Fred Barnes (both of the Weekly Standard, very conservative) or some other conservative, which sometimes comes from the Wall Street Journal. Fun to watch, regardless of the side you take. Sometimes gets heated but not with the strident approach on CNN's Crossfire. By the way, a similar panel is on Sunday, 9:00AM (Indianapolis anyway) that is hosted by Tony Snow - the normal Fox network, not FoxNews, although it does air later in the day Sunday on FoxNews.
