Perhaps its your ex girlfriend taking revenge?

Get over it. What is a few reputation points anyway?

Because if you get a downvote in the lounge it's coupled with an abuse vote. And when you have a couple of those you're gone, perhaps not forever, but you remember, right?

Welcome to CP
New version: WinHeist Version 2.1.1 new web site. I know the voices in my head are not real but damn they come up with some good ideas!

Not to worry. You will be reinstated and the person giving you the abuse votes when you are not abusive will be told to cease and desist. It is really not a big deal especially when the person voting abuse is of low status whose down vote doesn't carry any weight against your reputation. I get them from time to time with no loss of reputation points, but even if I did lose points I really wouldn't care. Relax, be happy. :-D

The same thing happened to me last week - twice, on totally innocuous messages. I didn't know that it was possible to downvote people in the lounge; the hamsters must really hate us. :sigh:

Send me a link to the message. I'm updating the reporting feature this week to remove some members' ability to report items. They can view, they can download, they can post, but they can't randomly slap people down anymore. Sick of it. [Edit: It's the same high-rep user who randomly reports items for no apparent reason. He's not at the level of "abuse", just annoying, seemingly whimsical, and not at all helpful. He's also my case study and Exhibit A as to why "don't put restrictions on members with rep greater than X" never works. High-rep members need checks and balances too.]

Oops, it was Weird and Wonderful[^], the downvote is disabled in that forum too though.

I was never into brown nose points systems, it does not control me in the least and you should not let it concern you. Truth can hurt

I don't care how many rep. points I accumulate, either. However, the only way to be "downvoted" in the Lounge is to have posts marked as spam/abuse. Too many of those could lead to banning from the site.

I up-voted it even though I use your initials all the time for a StreamReader object, sorry.
- I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.
I might have to copyright my initials

It's not that I'm bothered by the -16 points, but rather I'm amazed that I'm somehow downvoted when the downvote button is disabled. Of course if 'abuse' is the same as 'downvote' that would explain it.

Seems you already got it :) Thanks for checking it out! Perhaps he's randomly reporting to get some rep himself?

Griff is right. I just voted it 5 and it didn't move that score much.

16 points for one abuse vote means you have a high ranking stalker. Well, abuse vs. down vote is not exactly the same. If you accumulate enough abuse votes in a specified period of time you account will be blocked. This will actually be a blessing in disguise because you will be reinstated and the abusive abuse voter will be reprimanded by management, provided you posts were not abusive. A win-win situation. :-D
