Oh, Japan

They are already there: japanese sexbots - Google Search[^]
Yeah they are there, but really they need to ramp up production to get a good rile out of the over religious that seem to think they can control everyone's life. I am thinking they should be about as common as a toaster. That'll do it.
Computers have been intelligent for a long time now. It just so happens that the program writers are about as effective as a room full of monkeys trying to crank out a copy of Hamlet. The interesting thing about software is it can not reproduce, until it can.

I really don't think there is a single person on Earth that has any doubts about which country will be first to mass producing sexbots. Just saying.

I don't have any words... :wtf: http://www.reuters.com/article/us-japan-gaming-virtual-reality-idUSKCN11M0UL[^]
You know what is really crazy though... Yes we all know there is a dark perverted side in Japan, but on the face they are by far the most humble and shy culture I have ever seen. Any sort of PDA (public display of affection) is frowned upon. So maybe they are on to something. Their culture accepts dark sides and they don't then have to deal with in your face blasting from every angle humanities dark spots. It seems in the US we do the opposite. We have a cult of people (*cough* religious *cough*) that want to control everyone else private lives and then there is a rubber band effect that snaps back in their face (and everyone elses) in a large "FU" Here is a parallel (non sex related) example. Gambling is illegal in Japan. In other words no casinos taking and money and handing it out. But "what about Pachinko?" you ask. Good question. Well a long time ago the government (and the society) realized it's going to happen. If you let it happen in a controlled fashion it minimizes the collatoral criminal behavior (little to no violence etc.) FYI, Pachinko parlors work by having two independent businesses. One business, the big shiny for all appearances "Casino" is more of an "arcade". You give money and get little metal balls to play pachinko. Playing pachinko gets you more balls (if you win) and you keep accumulating them. Eventually you weigh out and get a "prize". This prize could be a real prize for you to take home and use (electric scooter or something), or you can take the pack of cigarettes that has the little sticker on it. Take that pack of smokes across the street to the independent business and they will buy it from you for hard cash. Legal. But obviously a loophole that the state allows to minimize collateral criminal behavior. This is true for any private behavior. The zealots need to get their panties out of their arse and realize things like prohibition simply do not work and actually make things far worse.

Small price to pay for getting sexual gratification while making grit and eggs.

Minitel, VHS (Over Beta Max) and the Internet all succeeded because of porn so yeah, nothing new here. And whats going to make lifelike robotics succeed? Yep, sex dolls. And the Japs will be first with this, they already have a large industry making them. Question is, will it be legal to have sex with a 2 year old robot even if it looks 16? :)

The real question is... No, never mind :~ X|

It's not really sex, it's just a fancy masturbatory aid.

Problem is, its the end of the human race. Once you can get a robot to give you good head whats the point getting married? :)

Yet in many countries cartoon imagery of under 16s for sexual purposes is illegal. The UK is in this list, pretty sure most western countries are too. So for those with particular tastes will robotics provide an answer? Its a legal minefield for sure.

I do recall, quite some years ago, that THE most popular adult comic book featured The Rapeman - Wikipedia[^] I like watching old B&W Samurai movies - but the days with the importance of 'honor' and such seem to becoming the very distant past, indeed.

There was a case here a few years ago where I live where the police found child porn on some guy's computer but he couldn't be prosecuted since it was all animated. X| I think that robotic devices, however life-like, would be seen as nothing more than sophisticated vibrators and unit massagers.

Is that a federal law pr state law that alllows this then? Of course by extension child like robots would also be legal. In the UK cartonns are not legal, so robotic children would also not be. Of course you have to ask the question, if robots provide an outlet for their desires do they protect children so regardless of the questionable taste of the things should they be allowed (and the same goes therefore for animated child porn)?

Maybe we should be asking our selves that... Divorces have skyrocketed, who is to say that marriage is what keeps society ticking? It does not seem we are naturally not monogomous but say we are to match societal structure. I know you meant it as a joke though. Just saying. Right now here in the US the GOP platform is starting their new "war on XYZ" declaring pron as an epidemic. Seriously? How do they figure? The only thing I can think is these knuckleheads themselves destroyed their marriages through cheating and wanking and now think they have the right to push their broken ideas onto society.

Yeah, it was tongue in cheek, wives also do the washing and ironing! :omg: :) Its a tricky thing. Human kids take a long time to grow to adulthood. During that time they are of course dependent and it is a two person job, which ever way it is divided, to bring up kids, but, it is not natural for a man to stay with one woman, any more than it is for an ape to do the same. We arent birds, we have different motivations. So perhaps we should have kids bought up by the state, perhaps with quotas of births, produced from egg and sperm donors, and paid for, and supported to adult hood, by general taxation. It is at least a fair system, with every child getting the same start in life. And given the birth rates of many European countries is well below maintenance levels something that might have to be considered. Of course Huxley foresaw this in Brave New World. A good read, if more extreme than what I am proposing.

The US has some odd laws sometimes, at least odd to a European, where we expect tougher laws on decent behaviour.
