Drinking age is 18 here and 21 in the US. Now THATS stupid. :-) The Consent ages are stupid. At 16 one can: Have consentual sex and raise a family Get married (i don't know if this requires parental consent) Smoke Gamble (well buy lottery tickets) But we have to wait 2 years before we are considered adults :wtf:

Yes. If the age of majority is set right the majority will be adult enough to handle it. Personally, I think starting to drink is much less important (and requires much less responsibility) than making love, so why the hell the ages of consent is lower escapes me totally. For the record, I was 17 when I started drinking, and 20 when I made love for the first time. I'm glad it happened that way around.

I hope you mean stupid for the USA? ;P Yes I agree though, when you first discover alcohol legally (i.e. drinking socially and openly) then it takes some people (well me and my friends) a little while to find where they sit with regards to tollerance and behaviour - what you can and can't do, that sort of stuff. I am glad I went through that before I had the responsibilities of a daytime job, bills, and possibly a family, etc. If I started drinking today I can see it causing a hell of a lot of problems while I found my place, and I am, by and large, fairly responsible. Very true, although to anyone with any experience of life (i.e. older than 16!) their lack of maturity does tend to make them a bit obvious.
