I enjoyed many pints of it in Luzerne in Switzerland one night. :) Among my favourites are also Theakstons, Old Speckled Hen and Dogs Bollocks in that order. We do some great beers. Nothing like them in Europe.

Allow me to add Black sheep, Trooper and John Bull to your list. But only when from the tap. In no particular order, it depends on my mood.

Yes, because heineken is soooo good! X| X| X|

Can't argue with that -- but English beers go for full flavour without overdoing the alcohol content, so you can enjoy more of it, before reposing 'neath the mensa.

Thank god everybody has your taste and only loves the beers you love... X| Oh my why do you guys always argue who got the best beer? Everyone has a different taste and the brits love their ale, the germans drink the wheatbeer and pilsener (okay north germans prefer lager), the belgians have their glorious triple hop. Arguing with Heineken is like you would say budweiser is the only US beer (which indeed is piss). And btw, if you can't handle the alc of a real beer (4,8%-5,4%) or a strong one (8,9%-13,X% ?) then just stop drinking.

The name's Mark, not Dave. If you only drink to get drunk, there are plenty of flavourless vodkas and rice wines.

I was not only talking about Heineken, i guess nobody actually likes it (I don't like it) and i wasn't referring to getting drunk (it's hard to achieve with beer) asap but being able to drink some pints before you go black, actually if you take the Oktoberfest as a comparison most of the guys that dropped out pushed in 5-7 Maß. And a Beer with roughly 2,6% is a "Radler" (half a beer, the drivers drink in Germany).

One of the nice things about living close to the German border is that I can hire a car here, leave it there, and take the train back. Getting hammered at your local is easy, but a really good p1ss up requires proper, military planning!

Undrinkable sugar-water, IMO. They add fruit flavours to it in NL, in an effort to make it drinkable as a soft drink, but it doesn't work.

You're talking Lager not ale. Ale does not have to be fizzy like lemonade in order to enjoy the taste.

They arent lagers though, and I have a VERY big place in my stomach for Stella, brewed in Leuven, many a night I have enjoyed a dre en dirtije of Stella! :) UK beers are flatter, less gassy, brewed naturally, and when the vat is opened, it is open to the air, and has to be drunk ini three days. It is a very old, and natural beer. Not at all like a lager: British real ale - Google Search[^]

Nor coffee, strangely enough. In fact - nor tea either. I'm guessing those guys threw the tea in Boston harbour that time because they thought that was how it should be brewed.

I've been spoiled with tea, because I have access to super-duper high-quality Chinese teas, at a fraction of the normal prices. With coffee, though, I'll drink any old muck, as long as it's not decaf.

I Recommend it - it's from your neck of the woods (Cornwall), so probably readily available when you're home.

I'll give it a go if I see it. Thanks. :)

I can recommend a tour at the brewery if you ever get to northern Yorkshire.

Speaking of "neck of the woods", have you tried the Staggeringly Good beers? The brewery's right behind Fratton Park[^], and they have an on-licence. :D
