Shortage of Junior .net Developer !!!
-
For the past weekend, I had been asking around people in my circle, if they know any junior .net developer looking for job. Surprisingly, the answer is NO. That make me realize that I don't have any connection with junior developers community :sigh: . So where are all the junior .net developers/ fresh graduated student hanging out? Where to find them? :omg: :omg: :omg:

You can ask in the QA, if you want more junior you will have to go to a kindergarten ;P    Edit: Note to self, I should read the full thread before answering... that would avoid repeating jokes
M.D.V. ;) If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about? Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

I fail to see the relevance of my nationality, but sure, if that's all you've got, take a swipe at me on that basis
Yes, that's unforgivable.

doesn't it depend in what you're looking for Bryian ? 'junior .net developer' could mean 'reads c# and makes coffee' for example - I see a lot of jobs advertised for 'full stack' developers - I don't have ASP.Net experience so that rules me out - 'kids' today seem more interested in JavaScript frameworks - maybe they get a quicker 'hit' ie see something happening by using them - I've never been one for quick gratification
Plus you're a bloody Kiwi.

Businesses don't have time, finance or resources to train .net developers any more as they're all curtting costs, and Universities seem to teach Java, PHP and Javascript as it's much cheaper to set up labs with Linux than Windows [although with .net core that might change, though I wouldn't bank on it].

If you can't find them, you have to make them... :-) (or look somewhere other than jobs websites - for example any local meetup groups or indeed GitHub?)

You can find them remotely. I for one :-)

Maybe its time to add "Job Boards" here.

I could be one - I'm no junior developer but .NET is almost unexplored land for me, as I only made a C# plugin for VisualStudio (it shows areas of memory as 8 or 16 bit grayscale images, gamma-contrast correction, zoom, painting of arrays indicating colums-rows or rows-column, saving the buffer) and a C++/CLI interface to load a C++ DLL in a C# project (the DLL is loadable both from native and from .NET).

I suppose I technically qualify as one and I dunno. Sitting around staring at job boards that all want Senior .NET Developers probably wondering where all the employers looking for Junior or even Mid-level devs are. As someone currently looking that's been my experience anyways
I agreed sometime the job description is too ambitious for a junior position. And that turn them away. For my case, I might not looking at the right place.

sorry, not in the mood - had a rough time in an interview before Xmas (was set up for a fall, and fell), still smarting from things - hence Im pushing a 'PC' line, (boring though that is)
Sorry to hear that. Hope thing get better the next time. Sometime I felt like interview is another opportunity to discover new thing that you didn't know, learn how people ask question. If you don't get the job that fine, at least you get some idea what the employers are looking for. Go back do some study/ homework, be prepared and try another time.

I agreed. If an employer willing to give you opportunity to learn in their environment , that awesome. Else you have to setup lab and study and still need to get a job to gain real world experience :)
