Why would you think that I am burying my head in the sand on this issue. Not to sound callous but I have arrived at my particular view through study and analysis, trying my best to leave emotion out of it. I agree that it is a problem but you can still find cause and effect at the root of it. While there are numerous different reasons to get an abortion, the one reason that stands out against all others is that the parent(s) cannot provide the best life for their child at the time, the life that our society dictates we should strive to provide, so they make that choice because (1) there was no affordable, accessible way to prevent the pregnancy and (2) there is no guarantee that good, adoptive parents will be found. In a no-win scenario, which choice do you make? BTW, I'm not advocating for abortion here. I'm advocating that we, as a society, should not be fighting tooth-and-nail to stop it but spending all that energy on making it unnecessary. That is, in my opinion, the only way to achieve a result were the most people benefit from the outcome.

~32% : too young --- Unable to provide for child
~30% : economic --- Unable to provide for child
~16% : to avoid adjusting life --- Unable to give child attention it needs
~12% : mother single/in bad relationship --- Unable to give child safe environment
~4% : enough children already --- Lack of access to contraceptives or birth controlAll of these reasons add up to one conclusion: almost all abortions are performed because the environment that the child will grow up in will NOT provide it the best opportunities to succeed and that idea runs contrary to key societal beliefs.

I can't speak for other countries but in the US it is VERY easy to adopt. If you adopt through your County not only is it free but they pay you money every month until the kids reaches 18. And if you adopt a minority child you get paid even more. And there are waiting lists to adopt.

You are confusing foster care with adoption. Foster care is where the state pays someone to look after the kids until adoptive parents are found. You are not paid to adopt, they become your child, just as if you birthed them, after the adoption is complete. The only benefit from adoption is you can claim them on your taxes. You didn't answer the other question, are you an adoptive parent?
