    1. I said at the time that this was a public relations bonanza and that it was being milked for all it was worth. 2. Having said that, on what basis can we presume the media lied to us, because another media source says so ? I'd accept this story as a possibility, but still take it with a huge grain of salt. I have to agree with you on this one, I don't find it unbelievable but the way it was worded it almost feels like it was another attempt to demonize the US Army. Also the military has cameras attached to just about everything these days I don't think it should be a suprise that there is camera footage. Matt BURN HIM! - David Wulff

I just saw it that BBC was doing a documentary on it and airing it this weekend. I don't know who is right, and have no way of finding it out either. ...and I don't know ehether the BBC documentary will have the same claims that this newspaper article makes. I saw it, and thought it might be of some interest. My article on a reference-counted smart pointer that supports polymorphic objects and raw pointers

Much of what was in the BBC article was already known. In the first few days after the event, the story was constantly changing because the media was reporting on things they knew very little about. The big problem is that the media thinks they know more than they really do. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

Without in any way detracting from the soldiers involved (because they can never be certain what is going to happen) or the soldier rescued, I wish the media had the guts to report stuff without exagerration  Elaine :rose: The tigress is here :-D

"The big problem is that the media thinks they know more than they really do." The bigger problem is, the media know they don't know much but keep making up stories anyway.

"i thought there would be like 20, tops." It takes more than 20 to make up a story like that. ;-) <Edit>Only the first 20 are elligible for the best actor/actress award</Edit>

It is my understanding that the raid itself involved only a squad or two of special forces. But a marine corp company was nearby in a stand by/defensive mode. There would obviously also have been any number of air and ground support units involved.
