Yeah that was my thought too. Hey come look at my new Smart Salt Shaker. Dumbass! Or the old Ronco commercials...but wait there's more!

I had my patience tested...I'm Negative!

OH FFS! Really? This is why we can't have nice things. EVERYTHING has to have a battery in it, be rechargeable, and WiFi connected?! It'll be on a few tables for a week and then the land fill! What's next? A :elephant:ing pencil sharpener!?!? Simple things should be left SIMPLE!

I agree: I use a mortar and pestle to grind the pepper, then it goes in pinch pots on the table. Much easier to get the amount you want and no :elephant:ing batteries to go flat.

I need a smart watering can :omg: I just watered my plants, hopefully as I should have. One of my plants is showing signs of not doing so well (but I'm having a hard time recognizing such signs from plants). What I need is a watering can that tells me how much water my plants need, when they need it, if I should add some Pokon, if the plants get enough sun or too much... Surely something like that exists? In fact, a quick Google tells me it does: Freiya Is a Smart Watering Can that May Save Your Plants | Digital Trends[^] I'll have to keep this in mind in case my new plants become as ill-fated as all my previous plants  But I guess I'm ruining your topic with useful IoT devices. Although it uses BlueTooth, not sure if it's actually IoT...

You don't need the watering can connected. You need the plants connected IoT.

What type of stupid idiot would leave out such basic functionality???   At the minimum, use the power generated to run the other functions when the electricity goes out! And get healthier at the same time! Come on, now! The name is hinted at in the item being replaced - salt Shaker! Dummys! I guess it is time to get into some IoT and make the big bucks.

Ah! So! I see the idea, but you aren't taking it quite far enough. You shake a salt cellar to dispense salt, yes? So what this needs is a "shake to charge" system. Given that the dispense is motorised, quarter of an hour of shaking should provide enough charge to dispense salt for one person (and run the WiFi for a while). :-D
