Assassin's Creed: Odyssey

I must warn you all before it is too late. Stay away from that game, it is dangerously addictive! Take me for example, an innocent victim that was happily working on my take over the world in my spare time project at home! Then, over Christmas, I saw the 50% price promotion and bought it. Little did I know the terrible mistake I was about to commit.... :omg: Since then I have been sucked into the game, 120 hours already, and no hope in sight for my freedom! This game is bigger than the Witcher 3! :omg: :wtf:  My take over the world in my spare time project is suffering terrible delays... Damn you Assassin Creed: Odyssey, damn you! :(( On the plus side I defeated the Minotaur and the Cyclop! :D

It looks pretty damned impressive, but I Really can't afford to start another game, right now. DQ XI cost me so many hours that I'm rationed to 20 minutes of DooM per week (Lord help me if it had been as good as DQ VIII!) What bluddy idjit invented computer gaming, anyway? Did he think we're made of time?
I wanna be a eunuchs developer! Pass me a bread knife!

Yeah, that one's addictive. How far have you got? I'm working my way through the first Hell level, and just got the chain gun. I like the "Classic Levels" idea - that was a good touch!

Nah, too busy trying to find games that work on our new Chromebook (without touchscreen), it is correct that you can run most Android games on it, you just can't control them :^)

I'm not happy with the "push forward" thing; it's not how I like to play. For me, the real skill in DooM is to get the baddies to kill each other, not to charge around like a nutter, shooting every which way like a maniac.

I know what you mean - I prefer a more "thoughtful" approach to mass murder. But ... I find that a "cautious approach" works in many of the fights. Take out the small fry with the pistol from a long way away, and then lure out the big boys in as small a group as you can while running away retreating to a prepared kill zone. The plasma rifle Stun Bomb on "full welly" combined with the "Dazed and Confused" rune and a zoomed HAR firing Devastator rounds works well for me so far.

I am 144 hours into AC Odyssey - I hated it at first - the difficulty level is crazy - I had just finished Witcher 3 on Death March difficulty but really struggled with ACO until I switched it to Easy

lolwut? You were probably just trying areas too much above your level. It only takes an enemy to be 2 levels above you for them to be lethal.

I switched to easy for only 2 fights: the Minotaur and the unique legendary bull monster... (just couldn't succeed otherwise :O ) But yeah, sometimes I die when I fail to be sneaky enough! I like thought, it makes stealth more rewarding, you know you couldn't succeed without it! ;P I just reached Sparta with the mum and found 2 item to open (or close?) Atlantis. Loving it too so far! :D Oh, and just reached level 50! :D

I don't really have the patience for stealth - I'd sneak about for a bit, get spotted then within a minute or so I'd have umpteen soldiers, a couple of mercenaries and several bears attacking me. I have also never got to grips with Ubisoft's constant wish to fire systems and key presses at me so in their games I generally find one or two attacks etc I like and stick to them. After 144 hours I have 35 ability points yet to spend - which I probably won't ever spend.

that's the plan. The scenery is amazing but I found the towns and cities dull at first - as though the city bosses bought everything from a Temples catalogue. I have gotten used to it now - very rarely use a horse and just potter about in the woods and on the beaches a lot.

What I hate about it, is how badly key handling is implemented.... Sometime I hit a key and nothing happen.. right now I am in a difficult fight with a legendary monster... So, for example, speed of ares is not working, so I press a little bit longer.. and then it cancels itself! WTF! too short a press nothing happen, barely longer and it cancels itself!:mad::mad::mad::mad: Already died 4 times..

I am on a console and it's the same thing - usually because an animation is playing. I just keep repeating the button presses until something happens - which is why I stick to a very limited number of moves.

Have you played Red Dead Redemption 2 - some of the controls in that are just awful. I would often shoot people by mistake because of the controls but my favourite one is the "stealth/hide" system - the game often interprets the "hide behind a rock" command as "stand on top of a rock"

It's how it feels sometimes in Odyssey. I am trying to hide but then the game start to climb the wall or something and "C" doesn't bring me down near fast enough.. It happens oh so many times! Well.. it's "kind of a relief" to know that AC: O is not the only game suffering from that, I suppose... Otherwise, no, I haven't played Red Dead Redemption...

AC Origins and Odyssey are far less "sticky" than earlier iterations - you can actually run away now without the character deciding to climb every bit of street furniture instead. Unity is great - there are windows you can climb through: Player: Press the climb through the window button Game: climb to the left of the window? Sure. Player: Press the climb through the window button Game: Gotcha, climb to the right of the window. Player: Press the climb through the window button Game: Climb to the bottom of the window? Jeez make your mind up Player: Press the climb through the window button: Game: Now you want me to climb to the top of the window? WTF? Player: Forget about that window, how about you drop down and get stuck on a lamppost, you are good at that. Game: Right you are skip.

Hahahaha... I also experienced that... Every time a soldier is coming and I am trying to quickly get away, typically!
