Why would that matter? He just does not like long flights.

Germany is foreign? Apart from having much better actual beer there it's not that different.

Never said I'm US born. Otherwise, with this grammar, I would be a little retarded. Was brought here long time ago, after I made some interesting applications in cryptography. From Bulgaria(google it). With an airplane. That's how I first found for my problem with long haul flights. And the last time I was forced to have one, it took near a year to put me together. I'm not going trough this crap again.

Nish, if you need to, you can borrow my reading glasses. To quote Deyan Also I hate foreign countries doesn't seem to be a flight anxiety thing at all so Urban Crickets question seems very valid to me.

Hi Guys, I hope you're doing fantastic. Please share you experience. I know the mileage may vary, but I've been out of the market for too long - 10 years, so have no idea how it's outside these days. I have enough resources to survive for one year. Max. Do you think that will be enough? Also, can you please share some headhunters in the tri-state area? Have experience with practically every common language/DBA system and most of the technologies. No web development or WPF though. Quite impressive resume including - from Visa and Mastercard to container vessels. I'm 42 yo and with almost 20 years of working experience + real education (master in CS). The thing is my company sends me temporally to Germany, and I suffer from severe anxiety and cannot board airplane. Also hate foreign countries. Which in my case renders me useless for my current position(manager).

Wow, the US job market must be quite good (assuming you are in the US) that you would leave your position just because you hate flights... :omg: Here, nobody would leave a place even if they would beat us with barbed wire and use Lotus notes as email client.

At the risk of howls of derision from other freelancers, do try places like PeoplePerHour and other online work auction sites. (Caution - only use ones where you can actually discuss requirements with the buyer before making a firm bid!) Yes, it's a rubbish market and yes, some buyers expect stupid rates. (I once saw a request for someone to build a site "a bit like google and ebay" and with a budget of $200). However, since 2008 100% of my clients have come either directly or indirectly through that route. For a couple of years I was earning roughly 3x what I ever thought could be my maximum income through contracting, as a result of bidding for a $200 one-day javascript gig that led to more work with the same client, and his associates, and their associates... I'm now semi-retired and have been for 18 months, ticking over with past clients and still getting direct requests from new clients through PPH. If nothing else, it's a great opportunity to practice your self-marketing skills, and if you win some bids, you at least get a bit of income. More importantly you refresh your skills, widen your experience, and learn from other people's mistakes. And the best bit? Absolutely no flying involved! :-D Don't join a site that requires you to "buy" bids with real cash, and you've nothing to lose.

Technically he doesn't appear to be a coder per se. Since he mentioned cryptography I would suggest he goes to: [Topic: blockchain · GitHub](https://github.com/topics/blockchain) delves into that starts selling snake oil solutions to world problems :)

fair enough, but these sites don't just provide coders; plenty of other technical and non-tech requirements there. I do non-development work through them as well as coding jobs.

One anxiety disorder is often combined with others. "Also I hate foreign countries" - I'm rather reading that as that he's having fear of the unknown, in one or several ways, not necessarily that he hates foreigners as such. (still possible of course, but I wouldn't bet on it) My wife suffers from anxiety, so I sadly know a bit about it.

If you're willing to relocate, you could get a job in three months. Lots of jobs in Boston. Cost of living is high though.
