Right, so you twist what is said when it doesn't conform to what you want, just so you can spread hatred. Shame on you.

Sure you did. You claimed he said something he didn't. That is called lying.

Cory Booker wants all gun owners to have a federal firearms license. My response - we already do, and it's called the 2nd Amendment. Of course, he would know that if he would take the time to actually *read* the Constitution.

God, I don't miss the USA and it's idiocy. The 2nd amendment doesn't say you are allowed to have guns in your house. Australia had a gun buyback after a mass shooting. We've had no mass shootings for 20 years. How many does America have a week?

Maybe he wants to put the well regulated in the "well regulated militia". What is well regulated anyway? It could be anything, per example mandating all firearms to be replaced with bubble guns.

It means, first and foremost, that you're only allowed access to guns in the event of needing a militia. A concept that, in 2019, is a joke

Yeah JSOP surely will pop in tomorrow to explain that militias are needed to protect him from the potential liberal commie tyranny. Or something to that effect :)

So in your esteemed (yet inconsequential) opinion, what exactly do you think "the right of the people to keep and bear arms" means?

No, the idea was that in order to form a capable militia, or to otherwise defend the Constitution, the people had the right to keep and bear arms. If the government is in charge of keeping the weapons, there are many vehicles that could be employed by the government, both inane and devious, with which to inhibit the arming of the people. To avoid this, the 2nd specifically says the people have the right to keep and bear. Even the SCOTUS has recognized that. Y'all can't win this argument.

I see... And as I see the problem is that you can grab a gun - to defend the Constitution - and shut everyone in your way to the grocery store... It is obvious that today the Constitution is no under attack, so let the Constitution decide if it needs defense and who should defend it... For now everyone can make himself a champion of Constitution... While I do understand, that those who used to a life that includes hunting and other gun-sports would not want to give it up - they should not! however the current state is that not only one can get arms freely, he also has not responsibility to keep it safe from the bad guys... And that's where it turns to the wrong direction - IMHO, one should have the right to keep arms as much as one wants, but take full responsibility for it. Means that if the gun has been stolen and used for bank robbery, the original owner has the responsibility to explain the why and when...

I'm not going to get drawn into a discussion about "responsible gun ownership". We're talking about the 2nd Amendment.

For now everyone can make himself a champion of Constitution.

Everyone should be, but that's sadly not the case. This is mostly because the Constitution isn't being taught in school anymore.

Means that if the gun has been stolen and used for bank robbery, the original owner has the responsibility to explain the why and when...

I'm not going to get drawn into a discussion about "responsible gun ownership". We're talking about the 2nd Amendment.

Maybe that's the problem... Instead of going around the 2nd, America should talk about responsibility (however - if you not teach about your own history I can't see how to teach responsibility to the young :-()

A bunch of cave dwellers in Afghanistan have successfully resisted/repelled both Russia and the US. Tell me again about how the US military can easily overpower unorganized militias with sub-standard weapons.

Even though the Constitution expresses no limitations on free speech, limitations have been imposed. Nothing in the 2nd amendment prevents regulation of guns.
