I didnt say they were paid by China, I said they were levied on Chinese goods, but there is of course a cost to China in that, which is the point of levies, and in that Trump is correct. China either loses market share or sales for lower profit, if the latter, the difference goes to the US coffers.
[Donald J. Trump on Twitter: "For 10 months, China has been paying Tariffs to the USA of 25% on 50 Billion Dollars of High Tech, and 10% on 200 Billion Dollars of other goods. These payments are partially responsible for our great economic results. Th](https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/1125069835044573186?lang=en) Trump is wrong, China is not paying tariffs. They may suffer from them, but tariffs are paid by Americans.

Nah, you cant. We left you keep your language and religion didnt we, your culture and cuisine. We didnt force you to change, like so many other colonial powers insisted on.
You know nothing about what happened here.

Unless as I said China reduces its asking price to offset the tariffs, in which case it is paying.

I know you kept your language, culture, religion etc. Does that make you feel repressed? Or are you referring to the British break up of the nice little monopoly a few French Canadian families had on Quebec? :)

Oh, so you think the whole history of Quebec is "We invade you, but you can keep your culture. Aren't we nice people?". Between the invasion in 1759 and today, a lot has happened. If you look at old pictures of streets in Quebec you will see that almost everything is in English. People fought and died so we could keep our culture. Look at the Durham report and the union of Lower Canada (present-day Quebec) and Upper Canada (present-day Ontario). Also, look for Montreal rebellion. Things are even worst for French Canadians outside Quebec. Even nowadays, the Ontario government tries to undermine French culture. In 1997, it tried to close down the only Ontarian French hospital, a modern and excellent hospital. More recently, the Ford government defunded a French university project and cut funds used by French-speaking people to help them fight for their rights. To keep our culture, we had to instantiate a special bill to fight the invasion of English. Also, there is the "speak white" insult to French Canadians by English Canadians. Look it up.

The British didnt try stop you keeping it, so who were you fighting, each other? :) You were even allowed to keep your own civil law. Durham said that the French Canadians, pre revolution French, were very stuck in the past, in ancient habits, and old almost medieval mentalities. The presence of British culture, as modern as it was, as outward looking, progressive (slavery had been made illegal in Britain around 1770) was enough to make the French Canadian scared and incite him to violence. Look at South Africa. Dutch law, Dutch language almost everywhere, Dutch street names even in Capetown. Same thing, absolutely no attempt to repress the culture. They didnt kick off did they? Any problems you have had since independence are nothing to do with the British by the way. We havent governed you for what, over a century and a half? You cant blame us, blame yourselves. :)

Just read the link.
I did, it was facile and simplistic. As I showed you there is a way that China pays, by reducing its profit margin to offset the tariffs. The US gov is then taking money off China. China is paying.

They are certainly not all French. You confirm you know nothing about Quebec. Examples: Moncton, Fraser, Saunders, Aberdeen, Brown, Wolfe, Dufferin, Bishop, Crescent, and a lot more. Almost every town in the Eastern Townships have an English name.

I gave yo a link to google maps, I am finding it hard to see one single English name. And we have Montpelier Street, Beauchamp Place and Cheval Place in London, and towns such as Ashby de la Zouche, Fern la Chapelle etc, we arent getting all angry about it though. :)
