DO you expect the line to be flat? Of course it will vary, up and down, but using one years trend and screaming about an increase when the long term trend is down massively is called what? Yes, BULLSHIT is the answer.

You posted one image from a site called mongabay.com. If I go to their own website, there are articles talking about deforestation problem.

Just pathetic. You cant accept the trend since 2000 is down, you are obsessed with a few months data showing an increase (yeah, it always increases in summer, it is a seasonal thing. It could well be decreasing already, since we are at the end of august) You cant accept that the amazon was in the past largely savanna and supported a population of millions, and you cant accept that a lot of the burning is not forest, but farmland, as is common throughout the world. Instead you are going to look at a few months of data and run around screaming like a little baby that the sky is falling. If it wasnt so sad it would be laughable.

These are your assumptions and they are wrong. Now, if you can keep aside your current assumptions and do not assume more, one can have a discussion. From the source website in your first post, I see this article.

Deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon has been trending upward since bottoming out in 2012 at 4,571 square kilometers (1,765 square miles), but the issue didn’t get a lot of public attention until this week, when the skies of São Paulo, one the world’s largest cities, were blackened midday by smoke from the fires. The shocking descent into darkness prompted an outpouring of concern across social media, with the #PrayforAmazonas hashtag garnering more than 300,000 tweets in two days.

Article link[^] Do read complete article and put aside any assumptions that you develop before response.

If you choose an outlier then you can always find a trend you want. You can also say it is down since 2016, but the fact is it is relatively flat after its massive decline in the early 2000s. You people, really, you are so laughable.

Amazon deforestation at highest level in 10 years, says Brazil[^] Early 2000s, about 20,000 sq km a year, last few years about 7,000. That is about a third. I am sure you see the point, you would have to be thick as shit to not see it of course.

So all the usual types are virtue signalling over this, the celebs, Macron, and the media all over it with the usual climate change stuff (actually mature trees dont absorb carbon, they have stopped growing, but hey, dont confuse the fear with facts eh?). As it turns out deforestation has decline massively since 2000: https://imgs.mongabay.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/20/2015/05/03204742/amazon-deforestation-brazil-1988-present.png[^] this is 1988 to 2017, the big drop starting around 2000 Alot of the images I have seen have been of fields burning too, not forest. Like this one, In Bolsonaro’s Brazil, a Showdown Over Amazon Rainforest[^] balled as 'forest on fire' when it isnt, it is actually grass burning, or old crops. We do this in the UK too every year. Another fact that the enviros hate is that the Amazon was until a few centuries ago home to many millions. Deforestation has exposed old towns and villages: Video: Lost cities of the Amazon | People of One Fire[^] Some are saying it was 'highly urbanised', and a significant proportion was savanna. Of course we are being told that todays minimal change, and much less than in the past, is a disaster, a tipping point. It is the same old thing, over and over again, lies BS spin and crap, being rammed down our throats by the media, corrupt scientists, and agenda driven politicians.
