What is your favourite film (that didn't make much money)?

Lots of people have favourite movies that were big hits, but what about those that you thought were really, really good - but bombed at the box office for some weird reason. Even if the film didn't do so well, perhaps it has a great line in it? One of mine is "Tremors" from 1990. The best line is, "...but I want to live for the three days"!

An old Mel Brooks film - The Thirteen Chairs. Never seen it associated with his film lists, but I think it was one of his best.
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, navigate a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Could be because you're one chair off... The Twelve Chairs (1970) - IMDb[^]

Mark TwainRight you are! Still a good movie....

Did you notice Howard's cameo at the end of [^]Guardians of the Galaxy? :-D
Will Rogers never met me.
Don't remember if I saw Guardians but clip was cool. Damn AZ is hot, heading to north rim today. Came up from Phoenix 109 to Zion 94 bearable.

Great timing, Mike! The temp dropped 10 degrees yesterday, and is supposed to climb back to normal by the end of the week. :)

Yeah we're in Fredonia right now and its 80s so yeah we hit it right, at least here. We were going to Yellowstone in a couple of weeks but temps there are getting cold so I think we will try going this week, temps are supposed to rise for several days. Haven't drove in the snow for many years and never pulling a camper.

Does Fight Club qualify? It's IMHO a masterpiece, among the best movies ever made, but AFAIR wasn't exactly successful.

The Grand Budapest Hotel. Strange and humourous.
Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend; inside of a dog, it's too dark to read. -- Groucho Marx

The Man Who Knew Too Little (1997) with Bill Murray. Laughed through the entire thing, but most people I mention it to have never even heard of it. It had a $20M budget and only made $13.7M, and it has a 41% on Rotten Tomatoes, but I love it.

I've always liked "Being There". A comedy illustrating people's willingness to believe what they want.

Harold and Maude, Bud Cort and Ruth Gordon. Didn't make a profit until 12 years after it was released.

[The Bothersome Man](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The\_Bothersome\_Man) I loved this film. So bizarre. So good. Also, [Monsters (2010)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsters\_(2010\_film)). 500K budget, incredible use of CGI (as in: very, very subtle and well blended) and it was about the story, not the effects.
