I've got the 'personalized' area set to zero entries, since I didn't like menu items appearing and disappearing unpredictably.

I did that exact same thing after I thought I lost some of my icons. And I always set it to small rather than large icons. Why? I can fit more programs in there. :-D

Usually it's "cmd" as you said, then what follows: 1) net start 2) net stop 3) sc \\servername start r_server (for those familiar with Remote Administrator) 4) regedit 5) explorer 6) msconfig 7) lots of small batch scripts
