Usually it's "cmd" as you said, then what follows: 1) net start 2) net stop 3) sc \\servername start r_server (for those familiar with Remote Administrator) 4) regedit 5) explorer 6) msconfig 7) lots of small batch scripts

Win+R is really useful, you see. I prefer the Windows command line to the various Unix ones (I'm a heretic, obviously), as you can run just one command without needing to muck about with a terminal shell, and that's what you do 90% of the time.
