Well, sort of...[^] Apparently Google Maps street view can take you inside some buildings too, at least into the White House. Navigating is a bit difficult since it's mostly small spaces and not every room is mapped and not every (open) door can be entered, but it's still pretty awesome. Must've been a strange sighting, seeing a Google car drive through the halls ;p

So with all those paintings of former presidents hung on the walls in various rooms... Any prediction as to which room will have Trumps'?

They built a backpack version of the streetview camera rig. Took it for a walk in some beautiful places near me. Absolutely no vehicle access, not even a bike. Wander round here[^]

Looking at [this](https://goo.gl/maps/8WFqxnns2FT4GEuV8) image, I wonder if that's the case here... Also, why are the faces here not blurred? They've always made a big deal out of it... Also saw a desk with a laptop on it, and a blurred area next to it. It was probably labeled "wifi password"...

And how are you certain that it is indeed how it is inside White House?

Not sure how it works, but anyone can have images included on the google map. Most are those 360 degree photos. Zoom in somewhere, such as a road along a beach. Then switch to the street view thing on that road. Then in the small map in the lower left, zoom in somewhere until you see the blue circles. Those are usually the 360 degree photos that someone made available (not exactly sure what platform the do that on, that gets integrated into google maps). In the upper-left label, you can see whose photo it is. In other places/hikes/businesses, you will sometimes see they were done by the Google person w/ the backpack.

Isn't this some kind of security risk? Though I am a small person, I would not want my house to be displayed like this. We are not sure who is watching. Especially on a pseudo-anonymous platform like the Internet.

Better than the White House, are many of the other places that can be explored virtually, like Stonehenge or the tourist volcano in New Zealand (that recently blew up). Whakaari / White Island https://maps.app.goo.gl/RzUH6EwXB6M3vZcv8

Hopefully we won't find out for at least 5 years from now.

To boil it down, you're saying some random guy uploaded this, and this is *not* from Google. I guess that makes sense. But then, this is the White House. You'd think the content would be...what's the word...curated?

I was going to make that suggestion, but it seemed too obvious. Maybe it would be helpful in a washroom used by someone who's often constipated.

They built a backpack version of the streetview camera rig. Took it for a walk in some beautiful places near me. Absolutely no vehicle access, not even a bike. Wander round here[^]

In fact, if you want to hike and photograph a trail or other 'sight' so that it can be included in Google Street View, Google will lend you a camera pack. You need to be a very serious hiker, though. Last time I checked, a couple of years ago, the pack weighed something like 40 pounds (18 kg, for those who don't think in pounds).
