Desireless - Voyage Voyage[^] Last week this song suddenly popped into my head. Pretty weird, as it's not a song I have listened to in the past, I don't know Desireless and frankly, I don't really know this song. The brain works in mysterious ways. Great song nevertheless, and after that first listen it went on repeat. Desireless is a French band and Voyage Voyage is the first single of their debut, François (1989), and it quickly reached top positions in various countries across Europe. It reached #11 in the Dutch top 40 and today it reaches top spot in SOTW :D

I beg indulgence for being disputatious in your thread, but I believe that for this week, this should be your 'Sound of the week':-' Pink Floyd - Hey Hey Rise Up (feat. Andriy Khlyvnyuk of Boombox) - YouTube[^]

OMG, that so screams 80's European pop. Write a catchy tune, throw in some words that sound mysterious or deep and team it up with a film clip with some weird people. Right up my alley :-D You know how I always say yours songs mess with my YouTube recommendations, well this week's SOTW brought up Moonlight Shadow (Official Video) - YouTube[^]. I haven't heard it in ages and almost forgot about it. In my younger days I used get stoned and loved listening to this song. Ahhhh, misspent youth. btw, here's one of the English translations:

          Quote:

Above the ancient volcanoes Slide your wings under the carpet of the wind Travel, travel, eternally Of clouds in swamps Of wind in Spain in the rain from Ecuador Travel, travel, fly to the highest heights Above the capitals, fatal ideas Look at the ocean Travel, travel, further than the night and the day Travel, in spaces unheard of by love Travel, travel, on the sacred waters of an Indian river Travel, and never come back On the Ganges or the Amazon With people of all races Travel, travel, throughout the land On the dunes of the Sahara From Fiji to Fujiyama Travel, travel, don't you stop Above Barbal, with hearts bombarded Look at the ocean Travel, travel, further than the night and the day Travel, in spaces unheard of by love Travel, travel, on the sacred waters of an Indian river Travel, and never come back Above the capitals, the fatal ideas Look at the ocean Travel, travel, further than the night and the day Travel, in spaces unheard of by love Travel, travel, on the sacred waters of an Indian river29 Travel, travel https://lyricstranslate.com

Love Pink Floyd, always have and always will. I'm kind of surprised by this clip. 1. When did they get so old? In my mind they are still 30 or 40 years younger. 2. This doesn't seem like them. They were always anti-war and this song is a resistance song, not anti-war. I would of thought they would be more supportive of a less violent solution. Please don't take this as criticism for what the band is doing. I'm in total awe of what the Ukrainians are going through & what they have accomplished; and I'm behind anyone/group who is willing lend support. It's just my impression of the band is that they were total pacifists and would prefer less violent means to end the conflict. < /disclaimer>

I believe David Gilmour's grandchildren are Ukrainian, which would explain the change in attitude. When your own family is under threat, peaceful idealism tends to take a back seat. I have to say, I found the whole thing very moving, and the closing scene very hard to take.

My neighbours have accomodated an ucranian woman with her 5 years old child. The father had to remain back because men within an age range can't leave the country, just in case they are required to fight. It sucks... A LOT.

M.D.V. ;) If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about? Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

Actually listened to that one last week. Mike Oldfield's Elements - Best Of is one of those albums I listen to a couple of times a year :D

It's funny, this song sounds like "[incomprehensible] voyage voyage [incomprehensible] voyage voyage" to me, but when I read along to the English lyrics I suddenly hear stuff like:

                      Regard de l'ocean
Voyage, voyage, [something] le nuit et le jour
                      Voyage, dans l'espaces [something] l'amour

The only French I ever had was at school, so I'm a bit surprised I can hear anything at all :D
