The city of Zurich wants to help parents with questions about raising children: The city's mothers and fathers advice service sends out a newsletter every two months with tips for parents of children up to the age of five. The latest edition is also dedicated to “gender-sensitive education”. And that doesn't go down well with everyone. As a newpaper (“NZZ”) reports, parents are advised, among other things, to avoid using the terms mother and father when talking about other families. There are neutral terms as alternatives. Instead of “Rachel’s mom,” it could be “Rachel’s parent” or “Rachel’s caregiver.” Children are also more neutral than boys or girls. I'm ashamed for my country, Switzerland :(( [Edit] A minority seems to be demanding something here. But I'm pretty sure it's not this minority of people who are uncertain about their gender who are demanding this. It's more the class of politicians who are 'so compatible' with everything and want to appear in the spotlight.
We've got that here in the US also. A colleague of my SO sends out with her emails her pronouns, she wishes to be addressed. Aside: I may be guilty of addressing her incorrectly, I haven't seen, only heard of her pronouns.

Germany here... yes. It is    :sigh: :sigh: :sigh: Most of the people I know neither support it. I always say the same, in the nature there are only 3 genders. Male, Female and Hermaphrodite (!= Transsexual). All other things are sexual orientations. Everyone can have fun (or not have anything) with whoever / whatever they want. I do respect them, as long they don't come with that bullsh1t.
M.D.V. ;) If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about? Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

Many people tend to conflate gender, sexuality, and social norms.

Be very thankful if it is only the gender confused PC idjits that you have. Oz has a plague of them! Aboriginals - now want to be called First Nations (they are neither first or a nation) LBGT??? - are agravating for changes to anything gender related. PC Justice system - apparently youth criminals should all be given another chance or more. Our pollies are absolutely idjits who cave to the latest fashion, currently Aboriginal influence and the PC fools. Aahhh will you NOT press that button - damn.
Never underestimate the power of human stupidity - RAH I'm old. I know stuff - JSOP

Another proxy for someone's personal issues. Like kids' beauty pageants. Hockey parents.

I don't see what's the big deal about an advisory that it inspired a rant.

Other topic. I am now on a visit to some countries in Europe, with my wife. Today and tomorrow we are in Switzerland. Jungfrau trip today and on to St. Moritz tomorrow. Yesterday we were in Rhine Falls boat ride. Beautiful country, very scenic and friendly people.

FTFY :) IMAO, as far as sex is concerned, XY == boy/man; XX == girl/woman. The tiny fraction of people who are neither (XXY, XYY, etc.) should be classified according to their external sexual organs. This leaves an even tinier fraction who have both or neither, who should be classified as they wish to be classified. As far as sexual orientation is concerned, as long as you don't do it in the street and frighten the horses... Now, if only everyone were as logical as me... :-\

More than just an advisory in some environments. It's politically correct insanity.

It was an advisory with some suggestions.

Same here in the UK. A recent communicatiom suggested the term "vagina" be replaced by "bonus hole". I despair of the idiots in charge.
Seriously? That sounds like a frat boy expression X|

I use the restroom that won't scare people. Has nothing to do with my chromosomes and everything to do with not causing a scene. It wouldn't be logical to go by chromosomes because you can't blood test everyone you meet.

I can understand the "Rachel's parent/caregiver" especially if you do not know Rachel's home situation. She might be in a single parent home living with only her Dad. She might even be in the foster program and living with foster parents. If Fred wants to be identified as female, I personally don't like it but fine, just don't compete in athletics against biological females. I'm going to stop there before I get into trouble.
I’ve given up trying to be calm. However, I am open to feeling slightly less agitated. I’m begging you for the benefit of everyone, don’t be STUPID.
