I did the taco thing for a while, but I only have two remnants from that phase: Fishtaco and Notaco4u. Here are the rest of my machines: Quack Herb (dog's nickname[^]) Timmay (TIM-MAY![^]) Buffet (pronounced "boofay" - inside joke) Doh And then several work-related, and therefore boring, names.

The geeky way: AAABCCCC#### Where: AAA = FIL = file server PXY = proxy server WEB = web server MAL = mail server DBS = database server DTP = desktop MBL - laptop B = T = Test machine P = Production system CCCC = W2KP = Windows 2k Pro W2KS = Windows 2k Server WXPP = Windows XP Pro #### = The number of the machine in that class as it was placed into service. Padded with 0's For example, my deaktop at work is MBLPW2KP0432 MBL = Laptop P = Production system W2KP = Windows 2k Pro 0432 = I was the 432 system put online in that class Geeky I know, but it seems to work and it keep sthings consistent I have asked before about what happens when one machine is used for mutliple tasks and I was told that does not happen. Now that I think of it, I have not seen that happen so far.

This reminds me of a company where I worked in Wisconsin,USA. Allmost all the servers were named after GreenBay Packers (American Football team) players names. Even the mainframe password was Packers quaterback's name.

The name has stuck with me and my friends. :)

I'm a geek, but everytime I repave my laptop I use a different Star Trek ship name...right now I'm on Valiant (a Defiant class vessel, named so after the USS Defiant). The IT guys were baffled one day when the found Defiant in Network Neighborhood. :-D

Did Cain send Abel any viruses? How well did Noah handle IP flooding? Or was Ark the firewall that shielded Noah from having to deal with that?

 Good one. Actually, they were all running solaris, and then eventually linux, so they were all pretty much the same. They were just for classes and dev stuff, so they were internal access only.
