I doubt the human race will even be around in a billion years. Probably not even in a million years. We'll either have died off or moved on to another planet by then. Maybe when we're sick of Earth we'll decide to play cosmic pool with her and see if we can make it ricochet off of Mars and Venus and land into the Sun. <--Signature begins here--> I am... http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/planetearth/earth_move_010207.html[^] Old news I admit but interesting nonetheless.... Actually, I read once that if we could get all the people in the world to jump at exactly the same time then the earth would actually move. They would probably have to be located on the same side of earth though.

Interesting idea but I don't see how it would work. If you jump then you are still within the earths pujll so its all cancelled out when you land again because gravity pulls you and the earth towards each other. Elaine :rose: The tigress is here :-D

I believe the jump itself was not the main reason why the earth would move but rather when everybody *land* on earth after the jump. I.e. all this people would act like a giant "hammer" that would tap the earth slightly away/closer from/to the sun.

Then each month would be exactly 30 days and a lot of calculations would become easier :-D

I had a similar idea once, but it was about stopping the earth rotating. The aim was to freese the day-weather on 15-aug 19:00, which is a perfect time for going out for coffee with your buddies  Of course this benefits only the cities near gmt+2 (athens, helsinki, berlin) ;P - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Memory leaks is the price we pay \0 01234567890123456789012345678901234

I read once that if you burped, farted and sneezed at the same time your heart would explode..... And the other one about masturbation causing hairy palms & baldness........ I tested these theories as a youth, and neither of them are true for me !!! However I sometimes wonder about another liberal thesis, that reality is independent of the observer (ie, that's why white people can't teach black history - no lie, recent US school fired whitey teacher because blacks complained), so perhaps you should test these theories yourself !!!!!!!!!! :):):)

What side of the earth would that be? The side facing the sun or the other? I imagine it would be easier to put more distance between the earth and the sun than the inverse. Right or wrong? -- Berlin rules.

So you wouldn't have to work against the sun's gravity, I suspect it would be easier to jump on the side opposite the sun.
