Currently, I'm using two and it's soooo nice! You can keep MSDN Library opened in the second and VS.NET in the first. Everyone here have two monitors. It's addictive. Even drag & drop operations become easier. We soon will be upgrading the machines and probably we’ll have three (hey, why not four) monitors. Currently using a dual head nVidia card. I ordered a Matrox Parhelia[^] card, which has three heads. The dual card that I'm using now is an AGP card, I tried installing a PCI video card, thinking that maybe with Win XP I could get it to work. Though the card installed with all the drivers, the system would not allow me to use both AGP and PCI video. I have a buyer for the dual head card, so that plus some deep digging for cash gets me the matrox card. Of course, now I'm waiting for someone to tell me that the two cards could have worked, but then I wouldn't have an excuse to buy a new card. One upon a time, I used a Hercules MGA for the debugger, and a SVGA for the debugged app. It was SOOOO nice!!! As for desk space, anyone into sponsoring me a good TFT? [edit] btw - how do you set it up nowadays? I assume you need a second graphics card - but this would have to be a PCI one, or are there boards with two AGP slots? Or are you using the onboard and an external?[/edit]

I'm using either two monitors and a TV or three monitors. I use the 2+tv combo when I code, where I have VS on one monitor and help, ICQ and IRC on the other. I might play some nice movie or music video on the TV. If I have all three monitors connected, I do usually have VS on center, help on right and Opera on left. When I get bored I play some Q3 or JK3 in Surround on all three monitors. As you might suspect, I have a Matrox Parhelia. I have 1x19" and 2x17" monitors.

Thanks for the info Turini, I always assumed one needed a dual-monitor capable graphics card, not just a second one. Congratulations on the Parhelia. They are lots of fun. Make sure you visit the Matrox Users Resource Center (MURC)[^]. They know everything there is to know. Read my post lower down in this thread to see uses for a Parhelia.

I bought mine from JME Data[^] But that was in July 2002, I did only select them because they were the first ones to have it in stock. If I were to order one today, I would use Komplett[^] or Dustin AB[^]. Dustin has IMO better support and way better shipping. Don't be afraid to contact me about any issues with the card. I've used it for a while now so I'm quite familiar with it.

Never going back, in fact I may try and see if I can get a third sometime soon. :rolleyes: One thing I haven't figured out if it's possible to do yet is to have VS.NET span both monitors? I'd like to have a source file open on each display. Do you know if that can be done?

A while back I was running 3 monitors 1 * 21", 2 * 17", but I needed the desk space for other stuff, so only have 2 at the mo.
