How many monitors are you using?

Currently, I'm using two and it's soooo nice! You can keep MSDN Library opened in the second and VS.NET in the first. You can also keep all your IM programs (as for me, I have Sonork and ICQ) in the second and Winamp and desktop icons etc. Rickard Andersson Here is my card, contact me later! Never going back, in fact I may try and see if I can get a third sometime soon. :rolleyes: One thing I haven't figured out if it's possible to do yet is to have VS.NET span both monitors? I'd like to have a source file open on each display. Do you know if that can be done?

I bought mine from JME Data[^] But that was in July 2002, I did only select them because they were the first ones to have it in stock. If I were to order one today, I would use Komplett[^] or Dustin AB[^]. Dustin has IMO better support and way better shipping. Don't be afraid to contact me about any issues with the card. I've used it for a while now so I'm quite familiar with it.
Great, thanks! I'll save some money first and then perhaps upgrade to that card. I want three good monitors first. Right now I'm using a 17" as primary and a 15" as secondary. A while back I was running 3 monitors 1 * 21", 2 * 17", but I needed the desk space for other stuff, so only have 2 at the mo. What I usually do is set one monitor for sources and move all the toolbars to the second monitor. A guy here also set his VS.NET environment to work as MDI and he can tile windows so he sees one file on each monitor. It's a bit of hassle positioning windows, but it works. IMHO, too much hassle. You can do it on anything you choose - from .bat to .net - A customer

I've found it, but it doesn't work with my nView settings I use. I've made it so when I maximize a window it doesn't get maximized over both monitors, so I thought I could move the child windows's outside VS.NET, but no I couldn't. The problem with big monitors is that you end up having to sit a good distance from them. Otherwise you end up having to rotate your head or chair to see them. So instead I think a wide monitor would just fill up my field of vision better. Regardz Colin J Davies

I was thinking exactly the same, how would you be able to view the whole screen in a 21" monitor without turning your head, wouldnt you end with a RSI. Btw whats the resolution, I have never seen such a huge monitor, I think I have seen a 19" (SGI or Sun Work Station not sure) even my television is a 14" one :-) Regards, Kannan

2 at the office, 3 at home. The third one is hooked up to a KVM switch so it's shared with my secondary machine when I need it. One of my monitors at home is a 15" LCD that I set on its side (gotta love Nvidia's rotate function), so it's running at 768x1024 :cool: while the other two run at 1280x1024. It took a while to get used to and lose the urge to "put it back how it's supposed to be", but set up this way Explorer shows more useful info and doesn't waste as much space horizontally. Same with reading docs full-screen, it's just about the same as a regular 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper... Now I only wish my TV tuner window could be moved on something other than my primary monitor. :mad:
