My friends and I get together almost every weekend for LAN parties. Each week we seem to get something everyone else wants: mods, patches, movie trailers, etc. It would be really cool if each of use could run a small server like app that indexes all of our files we want to share and also have a viewer to download/open the shared files. The whole browsing the network shares through explorer is a pain in the _ _ _. Anyone know of a program like this? Or is everyone going to suggest I make one;)

Peer-to-peer does not necessarily require the Internet. As I see it, any network (even a closed one) can use peer-to-peer. Google peer to peer for more about it. Steve

That was another solution I was thinking of. Maybe make an app that shows all the FTP servers running on the network and the ability to connect/search them. James T. I would say Nullsoft's Waste is perfect for what your thinking but I'm not really sure where the legal stance of it is. Nullsoft posted it with source and then yanked it a day later and said people can't use it, but there are tons of sites that have it and Nullsoft doesn't seem to care to much. But it's basiclly a P2P client for a small group of people. Maybe there is something similiar that works just as well....

Well, I might recommend looking around for a copy of WASTE, since I think it's legal to use... Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Nullsoft posted it a while back, but AOL pulled it. It's a peer-to-peer for up to 50 people, secure, etc.
