IMHO the competition stuff is a joke, and no one really cares. It have NO visibility, and I know several people that said it was impossible to find stuff about the competitions, and how they work. Also, I offered some software I have made, to Chris, that he could use as prizes in the competitions, but he turned the offer down with a "We only want developer products as prizes". Huh! If I won I would love any software that might be usefull, not only developer products... As it is now, I suggest they shut down the competition stuff, and turn it back on sometime when they have time/resources to fully support it! And now I'll watch the flames when people see this post ;) - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!" ShotKeeper, my Photo Album / Organizer Application[^]

You're about the 5th person (including me) in the last week who's reported to have been blown off when offering help. Like you, I really enjoy this site and hope it gets back on track soon. I've been away for a while so things may have changed around here at CP-land. I seem to remember that competition prizes were usually awarded quickly. I do not remember it taking up to 6 weeks or longer to annouce winners. What's up with this? http://www.codeproject.com/script/competitions/monthly/[^] "No winner announced for May."

True, which is also totally unfair. Admittedly I don't use digitals photos but the prize would be useful to give someone else as a present. Regardz Colin J Davies

I think this thread underscores why Chris doesn't want any donations. People start to feel they own the site and thus have a right to tell Chris how to run the site. If I offered Chris something as a prize and he didn't take it, I wouldn't feel hurt or miffed. It is his business what he uses for prizes. We have every right offer, but what he does with our offers should mean anything. It isn't as if he was the least bit nasty about it. Tim Smith I'm going to patent thought. I have yet to see any prior art.

BTW, I too didn't receive none of my November competition prizes yet.
I sent you 3 e-mails about this, and you sent me a confirmation e-mail
about it. But since then, silence.

I've all but given up trying to get anything out of them so if you send me your T-shirt size and address I'll send you a consolation prize. Now that seriously blows. If a site offers a prize and it can't deliver, it should at least give you something of equal (or greater) value. Jeez, the site's owned by Dundas. They could give you their tools and it wouldn't cost them a dime! That's really inexcusable. Cheers, Tom Archer "Use what talents you possess.

I have never said I felt hurt or anything, I just thought it was a bit strange. I have every right to think that, as Chris have every right to turn down my offer. - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!" ShotKeeper, my Photo Album / Organizer Application[^]

I thought the same thing, and I was supposed to receive a Dundas.NET Chart component, which seemed a very good tool. My intention was to make a nice tool with it and publish an article right away, which would obviously benefit them. Welcome back, Toasty! While the site is still one of the best, it's dealing with some rather significant problems as of late. Hopefully, things will be ironed out soon. Cheers, Tom Archer "Use what talents you possess.
