Man, I take a couple of weeks off to move and miss all the excitement... So, Anders and Marc started a new site, Tom joined, Anders left, and is planning something new. Do you have any idea how many people came and went through CodeGuru while it was building up? My point is that one person leaving a company/venture doesn't exactly equal "disarray" - especially this early in the game when RealDevs doesn't even have an identity yet. Simply put, Anders had different ideas about running the site and we agreed to part ways amicably. Cheers, Tom Archer "Use what talents you possess. I also noticed in catching up on stuff that you closed on your new house. Congrats, man! You moved in yet? I'm still unpacking... Thanks! We're still moving. By the way, I noticed you called the other day, but didn't leave a msg. Sorry to disappoint you, but it's really not that intriguing a story. We all had differing views on the future of the site and how to manage it so we agreed to part ways amicably. :-O I know, I was cringing the whole time I wrote that post. Re-worded it a few times, chopped out bits I thought might cause more trouble than AMT deserved. I researched Disclaimers.com* for something that would help but realised nothing short of being a marketing-weasel would have taken the edge off the post and I am not about to start being that. But I was really curious. So I asked away. Tom handled it well though, didn't take offense or make a mountain of a curious mole-hill (me). :) Good to have you back Duncan! I'm itching to try out more reptitive, lame, sad chihuaha and vette jokes. * Don't bother checking, just part of the joke. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Ian Darling wrote: "and our loonies usually end up doing things like Monty Python." Do you have any idea how many people came and went through CodeGuru while it was building up? My point is that one person leaving a company/venture doesn't exactly equal "disarray" - especially this early in the game when RealDevs doesn't even have an identity yet. CodeGuru ... yeah, and look at the great site it is today!! Oh, wait... Your example aside :), I agree with you, though. I think RealDevs still has potential, so I guess we'll see where it goes. An expert is somebody who learns more and more about less and less, until he knows absolutely everything about nothing.

Well, we were 3 owners after Tom joined. The site started to take a turn that I did not like and being the only one of 3 who did not like it I had the option to shut up and do what the other said, or do something else. Both Tom and me is very independant people and, as someone told me this morning, I have my own way of doing things. Some people did not like my ways, so that's it. I started the whole thing, and I could not just sit and watch it all go in a direction I did not like. Well, thats the way business is. All stuff have been moved away from my servers and is now running on Marc's, so I'm officially out. - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!" :-O I know, I was cringing the whole time I wrote that post. * Don't bother checking, just part of the joke. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass South Africa Ian Darling wrote: "and our loonies usually end up doing things like Monty Python." Just as long as they aren't <shudder> couch jokes. This entire year long adventure of building a new house all started because I made the mistake of mentioning that I wanted to buy a new living room couch for the house I was renting. Immediately, every human of the female persuasion I knew was insisting that I simply couldn't do that - it was the wrong order (once again, order is important). One must first buy a house, and then pick out the couch. This is, undoubtably, the most expensive piece of furniture I've ever acquired... Christopher Duncan Today's Corporate Battle Tactic Unite the Tribes: Ending Turf Wars for Career and Business Success The Career Programmer: Guerilla Tactics for an Imperfect World

Wow, a n o t h e r developer site! Cool! Enjoyed going through the forums. Got quite a few chuckles. I was kind of unsure of the focus of the rest of the site though... Best, Jerry

Exactly. I'm sure we'll develop a "personality" at some point, but right now it's just about sharing code and ideas with fellow developers and having fun running our own site.
