I was surprised when a client mentioned they had GoDaddy hosting with the features listed: MS SQL MySql ASP.NET PHP 1000 email accounts (as if..) 4 Gig of storage 200 Gig of bandwidth For $15.96 per month You can go for: 10 Gig storage 400 Gig bandwidth for $29.95 per month If you need less, you can get about the same with: 2 Gig storage 100 Gigs of bandwidth For 7.96 per month. Kind of hard to compete with those prices even if you are running your own dedicated server. Anyone know if their service is good or not? I got a client that will be using osCommerce. Do you happen to know if that will work in safe PHP? Managed isn't bad, but I would rather see Win2003 Server not web version. Been using serverbeach. Rocky <>< www.HintsAndTips.com - RSS Enabled www.JokesTricksAndStuff.com www.MyQuickPoll.com Me Blogs: wdevs - MSN Spaces (new)

That was the reason for the post and why each of the types listed had ASP.NET :) DavidCrow wrote: But if it is not needed, why pay for it? Your suggestion charged more for the one I saw and did not provide the other features, so it would actually be paying more for less. Actually, you can get Linux at GoDaddy: 500 MB storage 25 GIG bandwidth For $38 per year. I use serverbeach also. No problems and the machine flies. They have a huge data pipeline also.

From what I've seen, there seems to be a great deal of confusion between "I need .Net for my application." versus "I would like to use .Net for my application." I remember back when Microsoft made their .Net development tools available, want ads in the next week's classfieds needed applicants with .Net experience. Back about 15 years ago I applied for a job that had "Unix" and "Pascal" in the list of requirements. About 10 months into the job, I inquired about when those skills would be needed. At first, the owner claimed no knowledge of ever posting such an ad, but when I produced it a few days later, he simply said they never really had a need for them but just wanted someone on board just in case.
