You think that was bad? The blow-up sheep didn't have a barcode, it had a baaaaacode! Anyway, I think it's time to lay Dolly to sleep now, before you all think I'm really strange. Bowing to popular demand (and also the fact that I've got a ton of boringh stuff I should be doing, but did this instead) you can now upload images that will be displayed in the 'who's who' pages, and next to your bio at the bottom of your articles. BTW - no abuse of this facility will be tolerated. Post a pic that is offensive, degrading or downright illegal and your account gets flagged as having no images allowed permanently. If the system is abused generally then it gets scrapped. "Don't you have more important things to be doing?" I hear you all cry. Yes. Yes I do. cheers, Chris Maunder

Think there's a bug in the script - it won't let me upload my image. Keeps coming up with 500 Internal Error on ../profile/store.asp. I think 150x150 is good enough. It's up to us to find a pic that is appropriate for that size restriction. Besides a picture that even has an identifiable image of the intended subject, the problem might actually be that some folks are using third-rate paint programs to make any adustments that might be needed. I use PaintShop Pro. The pic I posted is a crop of a larger photo, but Chris made it fairly easy on us. The max resoplution of the pic is *square*, so all we have to do is crop a picture so that the cropped area is square and resize the cropped area to 150 pixels. PaintShop pro makes this task almost brainless in it's simplicity. "...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001

It was taken in a client’s office. While waiting for the client (he was out of the room) an-ex-co worker, who was with me at the meeting, started 'playing' with the camera. Then just as the co-worker said something (I'm not sure I should repeat it), the client came in the office. :-O "No one knows what power lies yet undevelopped in that wiry system of mine." 100 x 120 fits nicely in the 'biography' section at the bottom of articles. For a JPG or GIF, 5-10Kb of that size is normal, but for a bitmap, 35Kb is about right. I still get article submissions where the image format is .bmp, so I'm allowing this format for those poor souls. cheers, Chris Maunder

bmp is the biggest format available, as it does no compression, so 'even as a bmp' makes no sense. Convert it to a jpg using M$ Paint. Christian I have come to clean zee pooollll. - Michael Martin Dec 30, 2001

For a JPG or GIF, 5-10Kb of that size is normal, but for a bitmap, 35Kb is about right. I have a pic to upload, but even as a bmp it is 81 kb. How can I get past the image-size limits? I don't have any spiffy graphics software or anything, doing conversions between JPG-GIF-BMP with Paintbrush... Sincerely Yours, Brian Hart "And that's the news from Lake Wobegon, where all the women are strong, the men are good-looking, and the children are above-average." - Garrison Keillor

If he managed to squeeze it into that size, it would probably get him into trouble:-D
