I can see some stuff you shouldn't be able to see as well. Mainly the layout of an Air Force Base, complete with aiplanes on the runway. :wtf: Jeremy Oldham

Naw, AFB images are what I got in trouble for before. They should all be cleared now. Most are clearly visible from nearby mountains or public airspace. Groom lake is the appropriate 30m or 15m Landsat. (area 51) You can "buy" or take your own photos of Groom lake legally, but you cannot display them to others. Which is why Terra server had to take off a few locations, as will probably Google when they are found. Yucca Flats, though I disagree with its classification is still treated the same as Groom Lake facility. But Yucca flats you will find SW of Groom Lake facility. The place that looks like the moon. After 800 underground nuclear tests and an excess of 50 above ground nuclear tests, the place is unliveable, so very easy to secure. If you get in, if you make it out you won't last long. Still, last I checked it was on the restricted image list. But I don't know who to tell, so Google can keep it for a while. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Sand+Spring+Valley,Rachel&ll=37.125378,-116.069183&spn=0.114498,0.131836&t=k&hl=en[^] _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. I was home when the picture of my house was taken. I can see my truck sitting sideways at the end of my driveway. My garage was full of boxes from moving in, so no room for the truck. We also can't block the sidewalk with a vehicle around here. Kind of creepy that someone is taking your picture with you knowing about it. Naw... I've seen better. :) We just flew 1foot for nearby cities of Las Cruces and El Paso. And that isn't even at classified level except for certain locations. :) _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. World Wind is okay, but I don't care for the paging algorithm or any LOD stitching that uses curtains. I used to do the same, I do understand, but either overlapped blending like the MS algorithm or some form of adaptive triangle alignment is, in my opinion, better. You can get closer to the terrain without seeing the flaws. World wind treats the terrain as google does the maps, zoom in a step, divide and load data. But there is no pre-cached loading based on direction of travel, no blending, so there are too long of delays between redraws. This is acceptable for a web app, and even sort-of for world-wind since it was never designed to reproduce terrain, only load off of the net as a world-browser. I am strictly real-time terrain reproduction. But that is a never ending job, hardware keeps moving forward, new algorithms allow higher resolution, adaptive terrain representations. You can get higher resultion than hardware or algorithms allow by dropping the real-time requirement. I am thinking about using the source to pull my own landsat for background data for the earth. Saves me from doing the download, blending and color matching if I automate the download process and keep a larger cache than world-wind. Disk space is one thing I tend to maximize. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Talk about things of tomorrow and the mice in the ceiling laugh.
