I've been to the URL looking for clues, but I'm not having any luck with the safe. I have a metal bar and a ring on the box, and a key which doesn't open anything ( 11 items in total ). (edit: my problem was the second ring, I am now one of the 4,000 smartest people in the world ) Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++ P.S. Yes, I know that's crap. I wonder if 4,000 people were 'smart' enough to send the guy their email address, or if someone just made that number up for kicks ?

You need two rings and the bar to open the 'red box of mystery'. If you don't have them both, look around carefully. Think where you might find a ring in a room like that. The url is out of date, you need to use the wayback machine[^] to get the version from the start of april 2004. If you like the Crimson Room, you might like The Doors[^]. It's a lot trickier though.

Thanks - I'll try it. I found it all in the end, I cheated and googled for the code, as the page was not there. The ring I had trouble with was the one you have to shake the curtain for. The rest was pretty damn easy. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

There are less than 4000 people in the world who can escape this room . So have a shot. http://flash.qbol.net/pl;p/youxi/images/04042203.swf There are 13 items hidden in this room in order to let you get out of this room. If you found: 0-6 items, your IQ is very low, total idiot 6-8 items, Low IQ, u r an idoit 9-10 items, u r normal 11-12 items, your IQ is high, above the average. 13 items found and get out of the room, there are less than 4000 people in the world can do it.

I did this last week - got stuck after 12 clues, googled (cheated) and finished it. Wasn't particularly impressive and made me waste 30 minutes of my weekend.

Even the second room was fairly easy if you're just methodical with it. It has had huge circulation with many high-profile web sites such as the Channel 4 site, and magazine apperances.

Well, we don't know if he used base-10, perhaps he meant 4000 in base-100 which would be 4 million in base-10 :-)

Run the film in the projector (you've got a bunch of stuff, use it to build a projector) and you will see where the safe is.
