I just saw an ad for Boca brand sausages. "boca" means "mouth" in Spanish, so you can imagine the rest of my thought process.... ;) --Mike-- "There are only a limited number of jobs where they will ask to see the sausage. For example, Microsoft. :) Neither "micro" nor "soft" has good connotations. --Mike-- "There are only a limited number of jobs where they will ask to see the sausage. Mitsubishi had problems with their Pajero model here, in Spain. It's called Montero here. I don't think I could say the meaning of Pajero in Spanish without being censored. :-O

Years ago I read a story of a car-maker who targeted the Mexican market with a model called Nova, Apparently the name can be broken apart as "No va", My spanish isn't good enough to verify this. :-) Regardz Colin J Davies

You're right. "No va" means "It doesn't go". Quite a bad name for a car. :-)

No, "tipo" doesn't mean anything in Finnish. "Uuno" does mean "stupid-man", but I haven't heard about sales problems for Fiat Uno caused by that.

Sinner. ;P Reminds me of a few years ago when I was walking through the local mall. They had this Hickory Farms-type store with a bunch of sausage on display. One of the brands had a funny slogan: "<Company Name>: Purveyors of Fine Sausage" Now if that doesn't invoke inappropriate thoughts... Jon Sagara What about :bob:? Sonork ID: 100.9999 jonsagara

It's true. Vauxhall/Opel (GM european brands) made the Nova. In the UK they called it that. But it was branded Corsa in europe becuase "No Va" means no-go in spanish. and sort of in french too. Sorry to dissapoint you all with my lack of a witty or poignant signature.

Honda Fitta was never sold in Sweden. "Fitta" means... ahem... the rudest possible name for the female sexual organ.
