Well... If you look at the total population count then this statement might seem ignorant. However I read a study that suggested places like the UK will be in trouble soon. The article states that women are waiting until later in their life to have children, late 30's and sometimes 40's. This is going to create a huge generation gap in the society. The gap will need to be filled with people moving into the area from other nations. There are also similar studies in the US. We are getting to the point where there might be more people that do not have kids, then one's that do. It probably won't affect you and I, but in the generations to come there might be a problem. Not that I agree with everything, if anything, the pope says. Just thought I would talk about the reason why having more babies would be good, instead of just demanding it. - Drew

Measures will need to be taken: or taxes will be raised drammatically or pensions will drop considerably or age in which you are eligible for pension will be set much higher most likely a combination of all of the above... or we start breeding like rabbits on a diet of Viagra and make sure there are enough young people to care for us :-D ;P

Somehow I knew that I could count on you to provide a logical counterpoint to this touchy subject.:-D Thanks! That's just what this overcrowded world needs - more illiterate illegal immigrants who breed like rabbits and follow a faith that encourages more irresponsible breeding. Thanks, loads! I have no problem with the idea, really, so long as all new converts are required to learn Italian and make a pilgrimage to Vatican City at least once before they have children. Hopefully they'll all decide to settle there and leave the rest of us to live in peace without the burden of educating them and providing free health care that legal citizens can't get. Pope Benedict XVI told Catholics to have more babies "for the good of society," saying that some countries were being sapped of energy because of low birth rates. What an idiot. (Sorry, there just isn't any polite way of expressing myself regarding this) Marc My website

Hey, what's the deal with the CP rating system? This message showed up in grey text, but has a rating of 4.3. Seems like there are three colors: red = 5.0 gray = < 5.0 blue = unrated Or is it just my browser? Ease burdoned infrastructures, lower water consumption (which is so high above water cycle rations that we are all running out of water), we might be able to feed the people we have, etc. There are some good reasons to reduce rather than grow. I don't see reducing the number of generations in a lifetime as a problem, but a benefit. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Where's the money for supporting all the retirees supposed to come from? When the programs were first put into practice there were dozens or hundreds of workers/retiree, it's now in the low single digits with some projections showing wage earners slipping into the minority in the coming decades. This is a major problem in the US, Western Europe, and IIRC Japan.

I think that show would've been in poor taste with the recent death of John Paul II.

I have two comments on that. (a) I don't think it's supposed to be in particularly good taste. :) (b) If the BBC had got their finger out, they would have shown it before he died. All the Best Julian
