You mean you live in Hobart Australia, right? My coffee wasn't working yet, I thought you were saying you were visiting Seattle and staying in Hobart WA, which I can't immagine has more than a gas station, but I can't say because I haven't been out there. as for late night dining there are a few places:

sfdougl wrote: How do they expect people to function without nourishment? The locals know the very few places that are open 24hrs, about 1 per square kilometer if you are lucky. Wataburger is the only 24hour burger chain in my area, and it is nowhere near as common as the bigger names, so is hard to find. About 20% or so of the 7-11 stores are 24hour in this region, none in this town though, but in Albuquerque you can find them. At 3am here, walmart superstore, and one other store (which you will have your license photographed and posted in public if you enter) is the only game in town. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. In India, we have hundreds of channels, and... *surprise* none are worth watching. I hate TV anyway. Cheers, Vikram.

Oh, and when I tried to call home, it wouldn't work so I dialled an operator. I can't reverse charges to Australia, I can't pay with VISA, and they tried to correct the number I was dialling by giving me area codes that were obsolete 10 years ago, and told me to dial 55 for Melbourne ( 55 is extreme country Victoria ). I was polite, it's not her fault her info is out of date, but when I hung up, I was still on the call when I listened to dial, and she was telling the staff how I had no idea to call my own country, and I was stupid enough to think they didn't know. It turned out my daughter had disconnected the phone, I tried my way again and it worked. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++
Only in some very large US cities can you actualkly eat out that late (Las Vegas, Los Angelas, New York) but definitely not Seattle. Program Manager - MSDN Online Vista/WPF (Avalon)/XAML MICROSOFT Windows Vista Home Page My Microsoft Blog

In Hobart, we have 4 TV channels and nothing worth watching. In my hotel there are about 10, and it's worse. AND at 3 am there's NOTHING open in Seattle. I thought the US was a service oriented society ? Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++
By the way, I should have mentioned in my other post that there are some restaurants that are open 24/7 in any city. I tend to forget them as I'm not usually looking to eat that late :) Denny's and IHOP are two that I can think of. I live near one of the major interstates; there are a number of hotels in the area; so lots of eateries and a shopping mall. I have a 24h McDonalds (if you can truly call that food :) ) within 3 blocks of my place. 0.5 - 1 Mile Denny's, Perkins, IHOP (International House of Pankakes), Ember's All 24 hour. Nada, nothing for stores open that late, except the grocery store. ------------------------------- DEBUGGING : Removing the needles from the haystack.

In West Michigan, I can tune to 5 channels, 3 of which are usually so bad I can't see/hear anything. Only 1 (WZZM13) comes in perfectly clear. Satellite is the only thing available, but it usually sucks in the winter with all the frequent snow storms.
Found on Bash.org [erno] hm. I've lost a machine.. literally _lost_. it responds to ping, it works completely, I just can't figure out where in my apartment it is.

One waitress, no tables had been bussed, two tables had people, one was still waiting on food, and the waitress was ringing up a ticket at one key-press per 30 seconds. We decided starvation was better... for all we knew they only bussed to get new plates and food from the leftovers.... _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Nearest coffeeshop and bookstore.... :) plus work is between three cities, mine is the farther away, most folks live in the city with the coffeeshop and bookstore. Here we have hastings and a used bookstore. We actually have a library in our software lab, the books are all my personal collection. Another problem with who we work for, buying books is difficult, I just buy them myself and stock the shelves, trying to get all the paperwork through to buy a book will cost us 10 times the cost of the book in manhours. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau.
