In West Michigan, I can tune to 5 channels, 3 of which are usually so bad I can't see/hear anything. Only 1 (WZZM13) comes in perfectly clear. Satellite is the only thing available, but it usually sucks in the winter with all the frequent snow storms.
Found on Bash.org [erno] hm. I've lost a machine.. literally _lost_. it responds to ping, it works completely, I just can't figure out where in my apartment it is.

Yep. I actually went back and mentioned Denny's (and IHOP) on a separate post as I typically don't eat there either and also forget it :-D Denny's is so bad that they give you free dinner on your b'day and I still don't go there! I live near one of the major interstates; there are a number of hotels in the area; so lots of eateries and a shopping mall. I have a 24h McDonalds (if you can truly call that food :) ) within 3 blocks of my place. 0.5 - 1 Mile Denny's, Perkins, IHOP (International House of Pankakes), Ember's All 24 hour. By the way, I should have mentioned in my other post that there are some restaurants that are open 24/7 in any city. I tend to forget them as I'm not usually looking to eat that late :) Denny's and IHOP are two that I can think of. Nearest coffeeshop and bookstore.... :) plus work is between three cities, mine is the farther away, most folks live in the city with the coffeeshop and bookstore. Here we have hastings and a used bookstore. We actually have a library in our software lab, the books are all my personal collection. Another problem with who we work for, buying books is difficult, I just buy them myself and stock the shelves, trying to get all the paperwork through to buy a book will cost us 10 times the cost of the book in manhours. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. I think it's a great place. Great culture, music, food and people. I just survived the ACL music festival. 160+ bands played over the weekend with 60,000 people crammed into an open field with 108 degree weather.

This isn't a problem in Toronto. First, we have a Tim Horton's on pretty much every major street corner or close by... and they are open 24/7. You can get food... but not a burger. Many MacDonald's have 24 hr drive-thrus. There are other places. Most of the sub shops are open late to accomodate the bar closing crowd.

The front desk should know what's open 24HRs in the area. There is probably a diner open somewhere. Worst case, you could buy a clocal newspaper and bag of chips at the gas station. What's up with 10 channels??? I thought most hotels had the standard 60-70 channel setup. BTW, Welcome to the US. It can only get better, right? BW
