Yep. I actually went back and mentioned Denny's (and IHOP) on a separate post as I typically don't eat there either and also forget it :-D Denny's is so bad that they give you free dinner on your b'day and I still don't go there! In Socorro we had to get up for a night event, tried to get food at Denny's at 2am before driving out to the north range. One waitress, no tables had been bussed, two tables had people, one was still waiting on food, and the waitress was ringing up a ticket at one key-press per 30 seconds. We decided starvation was better... for all we knew they only bussed to get new plates and food from the leftovers.... _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. I could use a 24hour bookstore and coffee shop! We have several coffee shops, none with bookstores attached, nearest is 72 miles away. Think I can convince someone to open one in middle-of-nowhere, USA? _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Only in some very large US cities can you actualkly eat out that late (Las Vegas, Los Angelas, New York) but definitely not Seattle. Program Manager - MSDN Online Vista/WPF (Avalon)/XAML MICROSOFT Windows Vista Home Page My Microsoft Blog
And some not so large cities. Austin has great 24 hour resturaunts.

Nearest coffeeshop and bookstore.... :) plus work is between three cities, mine is the farther away, most folks live in the city with the coffeeshop and bookstore. Here we have hastings and a used bookstore. We actually have a library in our software lab, the books are all my personal collection. Another problem with who we work for, buying books is difficult, I just buy them myself and stock the shelves, trying to get all the paperwork through to buy a book will cost us 10 times the cost of the book in manhours. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. I think the closest I've been to Austin is going to Kerrville to visit my grandparents. They always raved about it though as being a very clean and friendly place. Program Manager - MSDN Online Vista/WPF (Avalon)/XAML MICROSOFT Windows Vista Home Page My Microsoft Blog

I think it's a great place. Great culture, music, food and people. I just survived the ACL music festival. 160+ bands played over the weekend with 60,000 people crammed into an open field with 108 degree weather.

This isn't a problem in Toronto. First, we have a Tim Horton's on pretty much every major street corner or close by... and they are open 24/7. You can get food... but not a burger. Many MacDonald's have 24 hr drive-thrus. There are other places. Most of the sub shops are open late to accomodate the bar closing crowd.

In Hobart, we have 4 TV channels and nothing worth watching. In my hotel there are about 10, and it's worse. AND at 3 am there's NOTHING open in Seattle. I thought the US was a service oriented society ? Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++
The front desk should know what's open 24HRs in the area. There is probably a diner open somewhere. Worst case, you could buy a clocal newspaper and bag of chips at the gas station. What's up with 10 channels??? I thought most hotels had the standard 60-70 channel setup. BTW, Welcome to the US. It can only get better, right? BW
Meanwhile, behind the facade of this innocent looking bookstore...

You need a set top box to get that, so not everyone gets it. So, technically, it's optional, the same as pay TV is. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++

Thanks, I am. I wrote more, but this site is plainly crap at the moment. Tried to post my longer reply about 15 times, got errors every time. And the last time, it lost my reply when I went back to try again. Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++
