Err...no. I'd rather become a fulltime VB programmer or (more productively) watch paint dry. I don't even know the big who-to-do about it. Everyone tells me I should read it, but when I read I like to read something truly entertaining and far away from work. I read enough tech stuff at work and after work for work, that if I pick up a book of my own, it is deep into fantasy or sci-fi. re-reading an old favorite, the Diana Tregarde series from Mercedes Lackey. It's been over a decade since the last. :) _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Talk about things of tomorrow and the mice in the ceiling laugh. (Japanese Proverb)
I totally agree with you. Besides programming, reading is my life. I am big fan of the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre. I have the all of The Wheel of Time, Tolkien's Books, Redwall Series, Sword of Truth in hard back. I have more books than this just can't list them all. Generally, I read all my books each year and pick up one or two new series each year. Luckily, I don't have any kids or activities outside of work other than working out and church to take up my reading time. Brett A. Whittington Application Developer

Well let me be the solitary voice telling you not to waste your time on it. I supppose the story is moderately entertaining overall but the plot devices are contrived and pretty pathetic. (Spoiler) I very early realized I was in for a disapointment when the protagonists took about 4 chapters to realize that part of a "coded" message from the dead victim was an obvious anagram (considering the location of the crime scene at which it was found) that I solved in a minute or so before turning the page on which it appeared. Now I admit I'm a bit of a crossword enthusiast but the protagonists were supposed to be a world famous author/symbologist and a Paris Police cryptologist! D'oh! Steve T

What are you doing this weekend? :) I have to come to office tomorrow for .net training. As for Sunday, I'll stay at home and get some repairs done. I will also try to read three parodies that I was able to persuade a friend to borrow from a library and lend me - The Va Dinci Cod, The McAtrix Derided and Star Warped. I'm halfway through the first, and it's had me guffawing. :) Cheers, Vikram.

hmmm... sounds like I would have the same issue. I am not a crossword enthusiast, however, I do cryptology for "fun". Anagram shuffles are easy for me I used to them as a child. My mom would buy me the anagram "fun books" and the cryptology one. She had to start shopping for the college ones because I was completing them faster than she had money to buy them, we could only afford one puzzle book a month. Even then I had to limit myself to a page a day if I recall. All the folks around me tell me I would love it because I am into computers and problem solving R&D type issues. The only book I have ever enjoyed "because" I am a programmer, was the wiz-biz books. Pure fantasy, and some are better than others, but a programmer as the hero? I couldn't pass it up. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. Talk about things of tomorrow and the mice in the ceiling laugh. (Japanese Proverb)

Not sure yet... it depends. For sure I'm taking a karate belt test in the morning, and I'm invited to a wedding tomorrow night. But I'm also expecting delivery of my new truck tonight or tomorrow, so I may just be out cruising in the desert.:-D "...a photo album is like Life, but flat and stuck to pages." - Shog9

Picture a huge catholic cathedral. In it there's many people, including a gregorian monk choir. You know, those who sing beautifully. Then they start singing, in latin, as they always do: "Ad hominem..." -Jörgen Sigvardsson

Vikram said he was going to read the parody "The Va Dinci Cod". Yeah, he used tiny letters. So get your eyes checked! :)

I said The Va Dinci Cod. It's a parody of the original Da Vinci Code which I read many moons ago, and it's hilarious! I finished it last night. Cheers, Vikram.
