I've been using it too. The only thing I'm annoyed at is the misrendering of the menubar. See how it wobbles when you select a menu? Not a big deal, but annoying nonetheless. :) --

Yeah. I hear it's really nice. I've been using Firefox trunk nightly builds forever, so I haven't checked out the 1.5 branch, but I hear rumors that it's more stable than my current trunk nightlies are. ;P

Yeah, I know there has been critical updates. It's just that I usually wait for a while until all the extensions I use work with the latest release. I don't use FF I installed at work for any critical things like banking so I'm not too concerned. Upgrading FF is still PITA in my opinion :boo:, and the last time I installed night-build along with a stable version it broke my stable version. :sigh: The smileys problem still occur though, it only happens when (I'm assuming) setting division uuh, in this case a TD style to none and then displaying it again. MyXaml is a generic object markup parser and instantiator, and as such, it can instantiate any .NET object that has a parameterless public constructor - including web controls. But it has nothing directly to do with web dev. Marc can do some web dev, but it's certainly not one of his areas of expertise - he mainly leaves that to me. :-D

Totally. :-D For instance, they're working on a lot of the parsing code for CSS and HTML right now in the trunk builds, so some of the CSS rules are totally screwed up. As such, Gmail is completely unusable in the nice AJAXy view. So I've had to resort to the basic HTML view. And it's either Greasemonkey or CPhog, but one of the two has completely stopped working, so I'm typing this reply in the normal reply page. You live on the bleeding edge, you learn to deal with getting cut. ;)

Yay! :-D 1.5 really is nice. The trunk nightlies I use have all the same features, so I know for a fact that the new features are cool. 1.5 is just a lot more stable than the release I'm currently running. ;P Here are the new 1.5 features: Firefox 1.5 Release Notes[^]. One of the coolest features is the new update system. They've built in binary diff patching, so now, instead of downloading a whole 6MB nightly build every day, I get tiny ~400K binary diff patches that get applied by the new update system the next time I restart Firefox. It's a lot better than the current 1.0.x style of updates. Also, the bfcache feature is awesome. (That's what they're talking about when they say that the back and forward buttons have been improved.) Now, the rendered page is cached when you navigate to a different page, so when you click back or forward, it doesn't have to re-render the page from source. It just pulls up the rendered version and displays it. Very cool stuff. :)

There's a patch that changes Firefox to use native theme rendering for the menus that's currently only on the trunk: Native Theme Rendering for Windows XP Menus, toolbars. But there's no way this is going to land on the branch between now and release of 1.5, seeing as how the target milestone is the Gecko 1.9 / Firefox 2.0 timeframe. (Gecko is the rendering engine, Firefox is one of the apps that uses it.
