File difference/comparision tool recommendations

Can anybody recommend a good difference/comparision tool? My company provides CodeWright 6.5, which has this feature, but unfortunately it sometimes crashes when I'm trying to load the files. :| * The tool *has* to be free. It's for use at office. * Syntax highlighting is not essential, but would be nice. * A small IDE with this feature would be just as good, provided it's free. Yes, I googled, but got bored quickly. And recommendations from CP are much better. :cool: Cheers, Vikram.

Because the company doesn't pay for third party tools, and doesn't allow me to install anything that isn't freeware. Cheers, Vikram.

We had araxis merge at our company too, but I have to say that i really did prefer Winmerge. Much easier to handle. But if you want to invest time & money, it seems like a good solution. For quick & free I'd rather chosse Winmerge. The only thing I know Araxis Merge handles is that you are able to merge 2 files if you have got a common predecessor.
All the label says is that this stuff contains chemicals "... known to the State of California to cause cancer in rats and low-income test subjects."

We had araxis merge at our company too, but I have to say that i really did prefer Winmerge. Much easier to handle. But if you want to invest time & money, it seems like a good solution. For quick & free I'd rather chosse Winmerge. The only thing I know Araxis Merge handles is that you are able to merge 2 files if you have got a common predecessor.
