I typically don't, but not because I ran comparisons, but rather I just figure for all but huge codebases, the compilers run so fast on modern dev machines that it's not a huge issue anymore. Oscilloscope for checking for faulty power supplies is a good idea - I ended up buying a cheap second hand one for exactly this purpose. A big alternative is a bin of spare parts. You can quite quickly isolate a faulty component if you can swap out components that are hopefully themselves good. Trouble is most people, even if they have multiple computers like me, the machines span different hardware generations, each of which have incompatible connectors between CPUs, memory modules, draw different amounts of power etc.

Handling collisions in an RTS is tricky. Use smart pathfinding algorithms like A*, and consider dynamic obstacle avoidance. When collisions happen, prioritize units based on criteria like size or speed. Also, think about predicting collisions and adjusting paths ahead of time. And hey, allowing players to set waypoints can give them more control. It's a bit like orchestrating a dance – you want your units to move smoothly and avoid stepping on each other's toes! 🕺💃

When I read about that a few days ago, my first thought was, geez, another company wanting to make a buck off of someone else's work, then when I read the actual arrangements they were proposing, it seemed quite reasonable. My initial reaction changed to, "geez, get a spine. If you're making sh*tloads of money from an awesome free tool, yeah, give something back."
