And where there's $50 of beer to be bought, sometimes the clerk will look the other way. :) Jon Sagara Sagara Software

Beats me, man. I was drunk every weekend starting when I was 17. That lasted until my 18th birthday. Then I had to clean it up for baseball season. After that, I went to college, and the rest, as they say, is history. ;P Anyway, the point is that you're right. That law is largely ineffective in that it is broken every single day, but I do believe it helps save some lives. And, alcohol is so readily accessible to minors that there is no need to change the law. Jon Sagara Sagara Software

Hey, I started at 17 too! The sad thing is that I can still remember... And, alcohol is so readily accessible to minors that there is no need to change the law. You mean that because this law is constantly broken that there's no point changing it? While I agree it is a stupid requirement to restrict alcohol to under 21's (my ideal age would be around 17), if there is a law it should be upheld. I know this makes me a hypocrite, but then again I never said I was perfect.

You mean that because this law is constantly broken that there's no point changing it? It's just too impractical to change it. America would have to become a communist country in order to effectively enforce this law. That would involve invading peoples' personal privacies, which just doesn't fly here. Can you imagine police going door to door at dinner time just to make sure Jr. isn't having a beer with Pops? Or having an officer stationed at every liquor store/bar/grocery store to check every person who looks like they might be under age? As it is, it gives the general public warm fuzzies to think that their minors don't start drinking until they're 21. Little do they know! Jon Sagara Sagara Software

. OK, I'm just trying to kick off a long winded contraversial thread. Thats nice of you, in NZ you can get your licence at 15 I find 21 a bit old to start entering bars, But remember the USA managed to have prohibition for about 10yrs Which is an utterly amazing fact I've found Americans to be "sensible drinkers" eg. they don't go out and binge like Kiwi's Aussies and Germans.(and some Poms) I remember as a young bloke have a puke on the hill at the SCG, "Now you wouldn't do that at a Ice Hockey or Baseball game in the states. Also false ID's seem to be big in the USA with many young folk carrying them which just makes a mockery of the law.

            > I've found Americans to be "sensible drinkers" eg. > they don't go out and binge like Kiwi's Aussies and > Germans.(and some Poms) I've got to say (as a Pom who lived in Germany for a number of years).. the Germans don't binge, and most Brits do! I found most Germans would go out for an evening (starting about 9pm) and drink steady until 1 or 2am. Us Brits living out there would get to the pub a little earlier (5pm through to 7pm) and drink like there is no tomorrow. Come 11pm we'd be slaughtered [whilst our German collegues would be on their second or third], then remember that it's not the UK and the bar wasn't about to close on us.   BTW, despite being in German, we couldn't really drink in metric , so Pils had to be served to us in half-litre glasses (it can sometime take a while to convince the bar staff of that :) ) Regards, Ray

It said "Birthday", not "Date of Birth". Seeing as my birthday was 2nd October, it seemed logical to enter that.

I'm talking Summer games here, the real Olympics. The Winter games were made up by snow bound countries who could run, jump or swim weren't they? Or is it a fact that the Ancient Greeks had skiing and skating events? You being Australian would know all about the Greeks F***ing Moron,

As a metter of fact, it was Australian's who helped the Ancient Greeks setup their Olympics in the first place. As a Kiwi I thought you would be keeping your head down. Outside of The Rainbow Warrior what have they ever done. Michael Martin Pegasystems Pty Ltd Australia martm@pegasystems.com +61 413-004-018 "Don't belong. Never join. Think for yourself. Well as a matter of fact the Afghani's were right on this one. If you can't swim we don't want you here. So the mothers were just ensuring that the swimming lesons had paid off. That just the kind of Humanitarian response that we expect from f***ing morons like you. Now as someone from a country that inflicted Richard Hadlee on the world I wouldn't go mentioning anything about underarm bowling. Leave Dick alone ( I've played golf with him and he's got a mean slice ) you stupid f***ing Slidneysider. What the f*** is pegasystems anyhow ?
