If I could fart "Oops, I did it again", I would contribute a recording to the world. :)

lol. that's funny, but since it would be a transformative, parody work, it would be protected under copyright fair use.

nope, wrong. i've done my research.
if you don't think the RIAA, along with the MPAA and the rest of the media cartels, are literally writing our copyright laws, then you really need to do some more of that research. Cleek | Image Toolkits | Thumbnail maker

Chris is just being dramatically bitter. Next he'll post something that casts doubt on the abilities of our free market economy to self-regulate and ultimately improve the lives of you and i via pure economic forces. He may even go so far as to dispute the intrinsic freedom and fairness of our markets. Of course, these are just the feverish ramblings of his addled mind, tormented day and night by his black, hate-filled heart. Ignore them; tomorrow will be as today, you'll always be safe and warm... :)

yeah, verily, I believe it. But we're not there yet. Of course, I could be wrong, but my current understanding is that the way the laws (and court cases) are right now support what I have said.

Bad Astronomy |Development Blogging|Viksoe.dk's SiteWhat if I make my own CD eventually, from my own music... do I have to ask permission of myself? Do I have to put it in writing in order to prove I gave myself permission to copy my own music? I am not surprised actually.... disappointed, but not surprised. It is always better for any company to sell the same song a half-dozen times, once in CD format, once in MP3, once in AAC, once in MP4, etc. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. as i understand it, the basic definition of "fair use" is still pretty much the same as it's always been. so, in that sense, you're 100% correct. but media companies are doing their best to chip away at what we're legally allowed to do with those fair use rights - for one example, we have the right to use small samples of works in our own stuff. but the media companies are trying desperately to make it legally impossible for us to actually obtain those samples by wrapping them in DRM schemes that you can't legally break. it's like being legally able to take a drug that's becoming absolutely illegal to buy, sell or distribute - eventualyl it's not much of a right. and Congress is not on our side.
